I will be the wuss. New world luxury. Finished the ski season off with six days at Vail a couple of weeks ago. The last several years my ski time has become limited so I want the experience to be first class. I have to tell you beside the foot of new powder in the back bowls we had on first and last day skiing the thing I enjoyed most was when I skied off the hill and handed my ski's to the ski valet for our condo and walked to my room. The condo having fresh baked cookies and brownies wasnt to bad and a balcony that overlooked the village concerts for the last week of activities wasnt hard to take.

Now having said that it was "only" about 15 years ago that a buddy and I drove to killington and slept in our car the first night in a hotel parking lot to save money on the trip. We were asleep in the hotel parking lot only to be awakened by the damn dumpster being smashed around by the trash truck emptying it at 4:45 a.m. I enjoyed that time, I really did but if I had to choose between the two, I am sorry give me the condo at the base of the village at Vail, Beaver Creek or Squaw Valley.

I think Im gonna rock the camper on the back of the pickup truck next season. Park in the K1 lot and the lifties can wake me up. I'll have to bum showers from my local freinds.... :D

You'll have some RutVega$ rent-a-cop in a Dodge Neon knocking on your window telling you you'll be towed if you don't move.

A few years ago (January of '04, I think) I met a guy who worked for Killington manning the ski guns who lived in a camper in one of the parking lots.

That's the designated parking area for campers. ...or at least it used to be.

I would do the camper if it had a hot tub in it and someone carried my ski's there at the end of every day. That was always Warren Millers claim to fame living in a van or camper all winter at Sun Valley right.

Done both, like both. I wouldn't say one is inherently better than the other, just different. It's more about going in with the proper expectations about what sort of experience you're looking for. Skiing? I found the vibe at the Alta base lodge not all that dissimilar to the vibe in KBL, just that the beer is cheaper. Lot cheaper. I don't think you could turn Alta into Deer Valley; nor can you turn Killington into Okemo or Stratton.
