Exercise not worth the effort?

You better think again…
When my grandmother had reached her 82nd birthday, her mind was sharp as a tack, but her body failed her. I so vividly remember sitting with her on the couch as she couldn't hold up her head due to a muscular degenerative disease and osteoporosis. She said, "You don't even think about your health when you are in your 30's or 40's, what would I be like had a I taken better care of myself?" Those words ring in my ears. Fortunately, I do think about that all the time...do you?
"I don't have the money to spend or the time to work out; I put my family before myself." That's the comment I heard just the other day... Seriously? We could all use that excuse if we chose too! I feel that is a very selfish comment! Sooner or later, if you haven't taken care of the only body God gave you, someone else will have too.. inevitably, you'll make others suffer.
I hope that grabs your attention. A healthy body affects every aspect of your life! I'm all about solutions, here's what you do!
First and foremost, get moving! If you can't get to a gym...walk, run, bike, hike, gosh, mow the lawn or vacuum! There is no time to waste. Make yourself sweat! Your heart depends on your movement. Strengthen your heart, strengthen your body, and strengthen your mind. It will all fall into place.
Eat at home! Prepare ahead, by making batches of chicken, fish, lean steaks, and every vegetable known to man. If its prepared ahead of time, you'll be less likely to eat junk! Fuel your body, and you'll feel energized and recharged.
Here is a very important tip...financially invest in your health. Your health is your key to a prosperous, happy life. Remember my grandma, she didn't do this.. and regretted it. One of the best things you can do for yourself and your family is hire a personal trainer. Hang in with me here...there are some people who can build themselves a fitness program and healthy diet. Maybe you are one of them, but that makes you an exception. For most people, its not lack of discipline or knowledge, its the ability to create the appropriate program for the results you seek. I see people at the gym who train 3, 4, or sometimes 5 times a week. And they never change. They waste so much time trying to figure it out on their own and eventually get frustrated with the lack of results and quit. You take your car to the mechanic... take your body to a personal trainer. Let them work their magic, your money will never be spent in a better place.

I did 12 miles in the r*in Sunday on a bike 3 sizes to small. Mostly because I'm an idiot, not out of any need for exercise. I know a lost cause when I see one in the mirror.

Working out in the gym all summer and then boozing and eating excessively throughout ski season isn't exactly healthy either, is it?the Disemboweler wrote:i keep seeing these numbers in health care industry: 2008 $2.5 trillion spent on health care, 85% of patient illness is behavorial, 3 primary behavorial problems are overweight, sedintary & cig smoking....wtf?? no one takes care of themselves!!!! diabetes, heart disease & cancer....big pharma, the doctors & hospitals love it....same mentality as the prisons....pcgrantham wrote:no gym this weekend.
