Favorite Meal in Killington?

The discussion in the Back Behind Thread about knowing where to go and what to order got me thinking. What is your favorite meal/dish from an eating establishment in Killington?

I've had some pretty good meals at Hemingway's but that's not someplace you can go to on a consistent basis ($$$$). Besides there, my favorite is the Guinness Stew at McGrath's.

Mmm, Guiness Stew is awesome and filling. I have had very good meals at Hemmingways but also too pricey. The Birches and Choices both have excellent food IMO. I am of the "try it twice" mold and there are several places I have eaten at and will NEVER go back for the food.

Remember when the Peak Restaurant used to have Lobster Bisque back in the day.
It wasn't the very best I ever had, but it was damn good on a cold day.
They should bring that back no question...

Best sandwiches - Blackies (hands down)
Best pizza - Outback (as long as they're not jammed - they rush when busy and it shows)
Best breakfast - Johhny Boys (though the wait staff can get stressed when busy)
Best dinner - prime rib last season at Garlic was the bomb (I've had a mix of good meals and bad meals at most places on the hill, but my biggest disappointment has been Choices. Been there 3-4 times, and food has been meh...considering all the great accolaides people give this place, maybe I just had too high of expectations.)
Best dessert - Sunup Bakery (also good for quick breakfast when you don't have time to sit down)
Best appetizers - Lookout (simple but always good - especially the crab/artichoke dip!)
Best wings - Sushi Yoshi (most of the rest of the places have some sort of spicy barbeque that's unique to the area)

Sorry Stormy but I'll go for the Cajun Peppercorn Fettucine at Choices. I think that's how Humpty came up with that great signature picture. They also have the best hostess on the access rd.

I like Countryman's Pleasure in Mendon. Great sauerbraten.

Like the french onion soup at the Gristmill on the deck.
Had some good appetizers at the Clear during the summer.
Had good and bad pizza at the Outback would agree on previous comments.
Had good desserts at the Corners.
Like the Long Trail Brew Pub kids can play in stream while you drink.
Prefer not to go out in the winter.

For my favorite meal overall on the mountain, I'd have to go with Outback Pizza (pending above comments about not being too busy).... specifically the Botcha Galoo.

While I can think of a few favorite meals I've had in the past, most are no longer available. Either the menu changed (Smoked salmon caesar salad at Charity's is gone) or the quality slipped (Outback pizza is a shadow now in my opinion) or the restaurant changed hands (Garlic) or is gone (Corners). I'll throw my support not to the very best food I've had on the access road, but where I go the most often. Nothing better after skiing than a cold Switchback and wings, and the place for that is the Lookout. The free peanuts are great, the bartenders treat me well, and if I want something more substantial I like the steak and spinach salad. If it's too crowded, I'll pass it by, but on a powder eve, it's the place to be.

when my house was in bridgewater, we would call in our breakfast sandwich order to Blackies and pick it up on the way to the hill. always good and always ready. got to the point that the guy would toss them to us as we walked in the door....

It's been a few seasons since I've been there, but I used to like to eat at the Vermont Inn on route 4. My favorite dish there was the turkey dinner.

my uncle richie goes there with his wife & loves it....i think they also go to that place geoff mentioned in mendon....my uncle richie been in k since 1974 or so....

dont you live in the centerport area? after living in the area since 1971 i finally went to centerport beach 3 weeks ago....love the place...."sick" sunsets....
