They are going a little over the top with the beast stuff . . . The script font for Killington combined with the pastel colors of the logo just don't quite fit with "The Beast" stuff . .

The new logo and script kinda reminded me of Beaver Creek's

Thank you. That was my very first reaction when I saw the new logo. Script font? Really? Not exactly the image I expected them to portray.

Actually I think the logo would make a great ski patch. I used to be really into the patch scene, I wish that fad would come back

In a way, I understand the over use of The Beast right now. They may be trying to recapture the name/slogan/brand Beast of the East in a hurry and the easiest way to do it is to use it over and over again. Of course, if this is all part of a planned longer term campaign, then they need to:

1. Reestablish the name/brand recognition
2. Back up The Beast of the East brand with their actions
3. Back off the over use of The Beast before people get sick and tired of it

Remember, we all hated the over use of "Ring around the collar" and "Please don't squeeze the Charmin" but the campaigns were successful at the time and boosted brand awareness as well as product consumption.

I don't think it will last long. Killington is experimenting with ways to bring the people back. In my opinion, "The Beast" creates an image of what was always Killington's competitive disadvangage. It conjures up images of in-your-face agressive New Yorkers, huge crowds, and surly service. I don't expect to see it from a Utah owner but "Bourbon Street North" was an effective way of marketing a competitive advantage. Killington should be promoting their 250" of natural snow, the natural snow trails & tree skiing, and the diverse terrain. The place they need to regain market share is metro-Boston. The tri-staters really have no alternatives since southern Vermont basically sucks and northern Vermont is a painful drive. They need to directly target Boyne and get the Mass plates back in the parking lot.

Only way to get Mass plates back into the parking lot is to offer a dirt cheap pass or pair up with another mtn. I'll drive right past Killington every time (except April) for Stowe. If I want to ski somewhere close, I'll go to Cannon.

It was nice having the option to Ski Killington/SR/Loaf. That's what did it for me all those years.

As an Ex-New Yorker now living in Northeastern Connecticut, I find myself skiing very little at Killington. Last season my family was out 41 days and only 2 of them where at Killington. There is plenty of good skiing to be had in Southern Vermont, and we had a blast skiing powder at Magic, tree skiing on the North Face at Mount Snow as well as excellent conditions at Bromley and Stratton last March. In fact we bypassed Killington for Smugglers, Burke, Mad River and Sugarbush in order to ski less crowded and cheaper destinations.

Killington was a strong draw for the shoulder seasons of October-November and Late April-June, but now that it's gone I might as well ski at Sunday River and Sugarloaf to make up for the loss of season length. Killington is also a much more expensive vacation destination option for me than is Maine. There is just as much or more vertical, good snowmaking/grooming and family fun elsewhere in the East.

I wonder how they did on season passes.

We haven't heard a peep from K-Marketing on this subject since the October 15 deadline, so I'm guessing that sales were poor. Again.

Does anyone over there (Utah) really think this campaign will help sell more season passes, or are they giving up on that market?

Actually, I'm kind of impressed. You google "Beast of the East", and the first entry is K-peak, and the second is your "crappy" thread. WTF?
