am I reading the trail map correctly? no snowmaking?

Post by Herringbone »

I see trails that have HAD snowmaking but none that claim snowmaking at present. Don't you go to Killington at this time of year to ski in fresh under the guns?

To make for a more enjoyable product, they turn the guns off on open trails so you will not get wet and / or run into obstacles. They are saving you from yourself.

With limited terrain open, turning them off is the way to go.

It's probably too warm to make snow right now anyway, but this season... don't you think people would give them the benefit of the doubt for trying to make snow whenever possible?

Just got off the hill from some early morning turns. Temps getting warm. Lots of humidity in air. Probably could not make snow at this point if they tried.

Upper trails nice and soft. Run out back to K1 rock hard. Should stand up to weather forecasted for tonight and thur. Get out today if you can. Worth an hour or two.

People. It's 50 degrees outside. Take it from a local. You can't make snow when it is this warm. Get pissed at Mother Nature - The Beast can't do anything about her moods.

Too warm to make snow.

Snowmakers were probably sent around right before the lifts opened, turned off all the guns, and then sent home to rest up until Fri. night. (Next opportunity to make snow).

Last guns to go off were at the bottom between lower bunney and the snowden quad. Had the 3rd gondi car and never skiied under a gun. Yes, to warm, not K's fault.
In my opion snow down low is thin to survive a lot of warm r*in, but only time will tell. Blame mother nature, not K. I think they provided a great ski surface today for such a narrow window to blow snow.
2 hours and 10-minute drive to K

Guns ran to about 10am today, and snowmaking should resume Thursday Night.

Eh, they were getting to the point where you would've needed wipers on your goggles to ski under them.
