Re: OT: Jersey Shore
No, but the characters are very similar to what invades the Jersey Shore in the summer

No. I will say, from seeing a picture of the cast, it looks identical to the contents of the Seaside boardwalk.
Re: OT: Jersey Shore
Heard from a friend that many of the residents of the more affluent towns along the Jersey Shore are not very happy with this show - have not seen it, but can imagine from what I've seen in commercials . . . hey, reality is reality - they have a life too!!!

The show is great. It must be a sign of the coming apocalypse.
And the sea will grant each man new hope . . .

Re: OT: Jersey Shore
After seeing the promos, it could be Revere Beach (in MA) years ago, except for the accents. And of course there's Hampton Beach in NH and Salisbury in MA. But most of these places now are trying to cater more to families.
The Maine shore is definitely nicer, the further north you go. Is the corollary of that that there's a higher percentage of boneheads as you head south?
And what about the Jersey shore is different from some places on the LI shore? (To me, the accents sound the same...)

I think the LI shore gets people from the city, Queens and LI mostly while the Jersey Shore gets people from Staten Island and Brooklyn as well as the city and New Jersey.

Re: OT: Jersey Shore
That was kinda my point, Ty. What makes Jersey "sleaze side?" Why is the Jersey shore different from the LI shore? Obviously places like the Hamptons are different...but not all of LI is like that? Are people from Staten Island and Brooklyn sleazier than those from Queens? Just curious...tyrolean_skier wrote:MarieM wrote:After seeing the promos, it could be Revere Beach (in MA) years ago, except for the accents. Re: OT: Jersey Shore
Isn't Jersey where they dump NY's garbage?
If that tool Mike "the Situation" was my son I'd slap the flames out of him for not defending 5'-nothing Snickers when that big meathead in the bar punched her in the face.
When you just stand there while one of your female friends gets punched that makes you neither tough, nor a guy in my book.

Seaside? LBI? Screw that Jersey crap.
Long Beach, NY! Better waves. Better food. Fewer share houses. Far fewer a-holes.

Re: OT: Jersey Shore
Superficially speaking , in general, most of the south shore is the typical beach goer like New Jersey type of place, Nassau and western LI gets more urban visitors while Eastern LI more $ and "refine" type.MarieM wrote:That was kinda my point, Ty. The north shore is different, more like Main/New Englandish shore type of place.
IMHO

Re: OT: Jersey Shore
one of the big differences between LI and Jersey shore beaches is that fact that you don't have any of that carnival/mall boardwalk atmosphere on the LI beaches like you do on Jersey beaches. All you have is Coney Island and the boardwalk on Long Beach but thats it.

Re: OT: Jersey Shore
The show should be called The North Jersey Shore - we don't have none of that down here.
