Your "max altitude" was 300 feet below the summit?

Non-WAAS capable GPS units are not all that accurate in altitude.

What a spectacular day. Sunshine, blue sky, warm temperatures. Did Spring come early? More people than earlier in the week but, for the most part, avoidable crowds. Worst place was Bear - lower Bear Claw was just a mob scene coming down and Wildfire was carnage in the bumps. No reason to stick around there. Panic/Needles was pretty good, although the middle of Needles was fairly scraped for a bit. Middle Superstar was good. Lower was scraped but quiet skiable. Lower Skye Lark was bumped up, with a lot of ice to battle your way through. Only bad part was H did a core shot along the edge of one ski but I don't think it's fatal. Otherwise, all was good. Great weather today. Nice to see them blow snow on Ovation, but it was quite solid and thin in many places.

nice Junior.

again, always good to see people love on pico. I would have gone but situations prevented me from doing so.

did laps on skyburst first thing and it was sweet under the beautiful sunshine.

they were getting ready to blow vertigo and accidentally did not rope off one of the crossovers. someone i rode up on needles eye skied it and said it was great. needles eye liftline looked really good too.

did SRT and then cut over to glades and canyon quad and lapped those areas. all in all a very nice beautiful sunshine-y day.

see you next week ... and happy new year.

spectacular day. haven't had too many sunny days so far this season so today was a real treat. lower wildfire went through many tranformations. very early it was very wet sierra cement. then before lunch with the guns now off, it was spring skiing. last couple runs end of the day it was starting to set up. and lower ovation was interesting as well. but the most interesting was roundabout. yikes ...

Have been tempted to try roundabout but was wondering if the streams were still very prevalent. By your posting I would say we need to wait a little more to try itl

most likely.

name was Greg. he turned to me and said "do you like fresh snow ?!" I was like,,, umm yes.

we both commented on what a nice run of days it had been since monday, and that we both needed to give our bodies a break from the awesome skiing.

and his friend Joe works for snowmaking.

Those are not the names of my friends so others must have skied Vertigo before they put the rope back up.

My report will be short. I skied South Ridge, Bear, some Canyon, Snowden. Did some runs twice including Ovation - the first one was a surprise to see lower open and then second one was because that's the fastest way tio get back to the K1 side of the mountain. Conclusion was good but not as good as yesterday under the guns.
