I thought that was a fun section at the end Squallywood. I remember reading last year on TGR that they had to cancel the game because everyone was riding around squaw naked.

Glad to hear the game was restarted and they finished the movie. If there was a Friday night screening around Killington I would definitely attend.

BTW, I don't think Killington has quite the right terrrain for the game. It might be fun to try to list a few runs and rate their difficulty, but with everyone so tight lipped about stashes I don't even think that would work.

K definitely lacks the type of terrain necessary... especially the type of terrain in highly visible places. It's hard to think of a single line that would qualify as both technical enough and visible enough to earn GNAR points, especially for skiing naked. If the Fiddle quad still ran, that might qualify on a day that it was running (depending what line you took)? But as it is, the only thing i could really see that might qualify is hitting the drop above the top of the SRT naked on a crowded weekend. That would be pretty awesome.

I think the Skye Peak lift line and the rock beyond the fence at the bottom of Cascade would qualify.

Let's see so far we have

Fiddle (probably could define a few different ways to hit the cliff)
drop above the top of the SRT
Lower Cascade Cliff
Skye peak lift line

yeah good call on the skye peak lift line, forgot about that.

wasn't sure about the cascade cliff, i guess it's visible enough from canyon quad though?

in a similar vein as the SRT drop.... the little cliff on the left right after you come around the first switchback on great northern. that would be really f***ing funny to see the reaction of the traversing masses on a weekend if some random naked dude just dropped out of the sky into the middle of the pack....

stringing those two together would be fairly logistically practical too. stash an extra set of clothes in TL > ride up K1 > drop into trees off top of K1 > stash clothes somewhere > great northern cliff > SRT cliff > into the trees to retrieve change of clothes. awesome. many GNAR points.

He's talking about McConky. One of three creators of GNAR

Pretty sure the original book didn't have any points for ski basing though. So I don't think it's relevant.

...how about the anonymous guy on a killington forum calling a person who's life was cut short a loser? That guy is what most would consider a loser.

Are you calling every big name skier that has died while skiing (Doug Coombs, Trevor Petersen, Arne backstrom, cr johnson, etc) losers because something went wrong and their lives ended early? Ever heard of Kye Petersen, Trevor Petersen's son? Go read/watch "The Edge of Never" and see that despite his father not being around he understands the draw of skiing the big lines and the risks associated with such lines. With your logic if you hit a tree on the side of great northern and passed away you would be a loser too right? ...well actually we already determined you are a loser.

Also have you even read Squallywood? Squallywood, the book Rob Gaffney wrote which the game of GNAR's rules are in, details each line at Squaw and what to look out for, the landing zones, where rocks can hide under the snow pack, etc. Everything jump/drop/line they skied was immaculately calculated to minimize risk. You can never eliminate all risk... sh*t goes terribly wrong sometimes.

Or is it just extreme jealousy that Shane was more of a skier (and man) than you will ever be? Just because he could safely ski lines that you can't even imagine you get all hot and bothered? Is your level of acceptable risk what everyone should follow?

Maybe you should watch the movie and see what Shane was all about. His wife and some of his best friends are in the movie... they don't seem bitter at all that Shane live his life in the manner in which he did.

ANYWAYS - G.N.A.R. is the best ski movie of the year in my opinion.

I saw the video last week. The gnar factor looked very weak. Jay peak front side is way more gnar. Seeing that video solidifies that I don't want to ski that weak sh*t. ZThe game is lacking some serious tough lines.

Tellit somewhere else.

How does calling Shane a loser make you a winner? Read the book, then you can retrack your nonsensical post.

Coombs, McConkey and others opened doors and terrain that WAY expanded the glisse universe and paved the way for TGR and many others.

GNAR is a ski movie masterpiece...better than the last few lamo Warren Miller releases and Mosely's weak-wanna-be crap.

Wayne Wong still looked like he could throttle-up a WORM-turn or two. Where is Scotty Brooksbank now ? John Eaves ?
