Hey everybody, I will be heading back to hanover NH this weekend where my parents live but will be flying in from san francisco and don't want to check my skis. I'm planning on skiing mad river on Friday (sorry K, $39 beats $79 for a day ticket!) and need to rent some skis. Anybody know of a good place near hanover or MRG? I am a very aggressive skier and usually ski on Scott Punishers (mid fat all mountain, 89 at the waist) and was hoping to rent a similar pair. I don't want to rent crappy rental skis. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!
PS- skiing in vermont is better than skiing at in lake tahoe right now, imagine that! Figures that would happen the first year I'm out west for a winter...

anyone living in Hanover will have a handle on this.
Selection and pricing are limited over there.
You'd likely have better odds at a specialty Mtn. shop.
MRG has many 207cm with Look Nevada's ready to go...
Hope you didn't whammy us with your Tahoe comment.

I google mapped the area and found a few places that you can try. One is on the corner of Sugarbush Access Road, and I found this in Waitsfield.

On the access road I found Alpine Options Near the Sugarbush Inn

I'm sure there are many more and it just depends on which way you come in. Access road is best from the South on 100. Waitsfield if you come South from I-89.

My fav shop is Mountainside but they are located at Sugarbush so not very convenient if you are going to MRG. Inverness is downtown Waitsfield and they are now under new ownership. New name ( I think ) is Intuit...guy I know used to be there that knows his stuff is now at Alpine Options , but again , they are on the Sugarbush Access Rd. but close to German Flats Rd. which will take you to Mad River. The other choice is VT. North and I can't find a website for them but they are at the end of the access road if you are headed up 100N and they know their stuff. If MRG has a decent choice of gear , that would be my choice. Only because if you have a rental with a problem the closer you are to the source the better. And I would check on "damage" waivers and insurance. We have good base right now but it is MRG , after all. Good Luck.
Now , maybe I haven't skied Sugarbush enough to know the character well enough...HS 4/17/2007
