Waiting for it to blow down put in an insurance claim offsets the cost of the new Peak Lodge.

We need to start a contest to name the new Peak Bar.

Source says it will be taken down this summer and replaced the following year.
Major upgrades and repairs to sewer and snowmaking systems over the summer as well.
Maybe replacement of the Snowdon triple, but this might be put on hold.

If they lose this structure, they will NOT be able to rebuild a new one. I don't believe they are going to let that happen. The space where the original Killington gondola terminated has been unused since it was disassembled in 1994-5 for the Skye Ship Gondola. They were planning to replace the Killington double chair with K-1 gondola and probably were under the impression that TWO 8-passenger gondolas terminating at the summit would have over-stressed the summit, and caused major problems at the very top.

I have no idea what plans they have the for the empty space that once was the termination point for the old, original Killington Gondola. Perhaps the kitchen needs upgrading. Remember, water is plumbed up and waste is pumped down...to end the need for this, allow existing pipes to "retire" and then later replace them would cost a terrible fortune.

I don't see this building as an eyesore...and if it is destroyed and not replaced, THAT will cause some people regret, I believe. They might be able to do something that makes it pleasant in some sort of way...and perhaps more useful than all that empty space today.

Why would they not be able to build a new one?
As it stands right now that building is FUGLY
