Once again Selectman Haff has proven how little regard he has for the process, the other Selectboard members and the members of this community with his irresponsible, unprofessional and disrespectful behavior.

While residents and voters may not agree with the Selectboard on any given, it is his responsibility as an elected representative on that board to sit through meetings, weigh all opinions and then vote on each matter. It is also imperitive that he then respect that vote and all votes: not just the one's he wins. To storm out of a meeting about something as important as town manager, because he doesn't agree with the other Selectman, is childish and inappropriate.

Also, to go as far as to discuss the details of an Executive Session Meeting with anyone outside of that meeting, including the press, is a violation of Vermont State Law.

Considering that he opposed a 5-person Selectboard saying that it was "unnecessary" at the special town meeting, he must accept the vote if the other two Selectman have the "nerve" to disagree with him.

Let us also consider that it was his abusive behavior and tone that may have led to Kathleen's resignation? He was quoted as saying it would "be no trouble" finding a new Town Manager. Well, it seems that it wasn't but he didn't like the choice.

I can't say that I agree with appointing Seth as the interim Town Manager but I feel that this continued pattern of volatile behavior is unacceptable. I would hope that if Mr. Haff cannot live up to his duties and responsibilities as an elected representative of ALL of the residents of this town (not just the ones who voted for him) then he should make good on his "threat" to resign and let a responsible, qualified and hopefully level-headed member of this community step in.

BTW I checked and there is no recall in VT, you're stuck with the board unless they voluntary resign. Now I understand Chris Bianchi's let them eat cake attitude. The following is a quote from the Rutland Herald article.

"Chris Bianchi told audience members at last night's meeting that the members were elected to make decisions for the public."

I also believe that if a Selectman resigns that the remaining two get to appoint a new Selectperson for the remainder of that person's term, not just until the next election?

For all I know, Jim Haff may be the worst God-awful person on the face of the planet, but on this issue, it sure as hell sounds like he's on the side of the angels.

What a freakin' mess.

Yeah, walking out on a mess that he created because he's not getting his own way sounds very angelic.

I propose that Jim Haff from this time on into perpetuity be referred to as Haff Cocked as in he's always going off "half cocked", so say one so say you all after all the Admins are here to make decisions for the members. :-)

Seth's a smart guy. He's guaranteed two years regardless of what happens.
So Seth is proposing to hire an assistant town manager to do the town manager tasks he's not qualified to perform? Why would a town with a population of 1,000 and where middle & high school are tuitioned out need an assistant town manager?

Maybe Jim Haff is wrong for the Selectman job but this doesn't make any sense to me. The municipal tax rate is going to go up to fund this kind of nonsense.
Actually, this may save the town some money. An assistant town manager will cost less than a town manager. If Seth stayed in his present role with the EDT, they would've had Seth and a Town Manager. This way, they get a Town Manager at Seth's salary, an Assistant Town Manager at lower cost, and eliminate Seth's old role with the EDT. The problem, of course, is the loss of focus on events development, which is what some people were saying at the meeting the other night.

Which brings up the question why is a department that no longer exits funded to the tune of whatever is collected from the 1% tax, look for the money grab shortly, at least the selectmen can't redirect the money without a town vote.

"Melvin B.Neisner sent a letter to the Select Board asking to be appointed as the interim town manager touting his experience in business."

Unreal. That guy put a biker in the hospital and tried to pin it on his wife to escape a probable DWI and he "somehow" got off on a technicality!
I saw the damaged bike and the rider severely broke his ankle among other injuries. If I or you did what he did I would be in jail no doubt.

Tell you what, ataglance... if you have proof that this guy "created" this mess by forcing Ramsay to quit her job by being such a big mean meanie, sending the former town manager running away with girlish tears streaming down her face... why not SHARE that proof with the rest of the class?

Feel free to post it right here. Pictures, video, correspondence, whatever you feel lifts your comments out of the realm of biased speculation and into the realm of verifiable proof.

Seems to me that there's plenty of incompetence, arrogance, cluelessness and selfishness to go around among MANY people in this little passion play, but if you can tie it all back to one guy you obviously loathe, go for it!

The proof is none of your business as long as some others request to keep it private. If you have proof that he didn't do anything wrong please post as you have requested of me.
Imagining a person like you talking about loathing and for asking for proof after skewering so many based on your arrogance is purely amazing.
As far as the others, Haff chooses to be the point man for outrageous behavior, he paints his own target and he is the only one that I KNOW of that has bullied some very nice people.
In the meantime go eat a few more Viagra for the ego pills and secure your pulpit for the hurricane.
