Reliable timeline for re-opening of Rt 4 Mendon?

Post by GeorgeS »

Does anyone have any?

From my conversations with Killington business owners, fire dept volunteer folks and others in the community, there has been nothing definitive outlined. In fact, when pressed for dates they have been told there is no timeline at this juncture. (Besides K stating the Brewfest will go on *pending* completion of Rt 4.)

I would love to hear some reports from those better in the know.

As of Sunday's public informational meeting, there was no timetable.

I wasn't able to see that info, but I was able to see the link where Gov. Shumlin requested the use of vacation homes as shelters for those displaced. I had already offered my places to several displaced. I emailed the governor's office and offered my 2 empty units until at least Nov 15. I have one of those units rented for the winter, but the renters had already offered it as shelter (pending my approval) until Thanksgiving week.

It seemed a lot of folks thought 4 would be open by Oct 1, and I was hoping there was some big super-secret plan out there that the folks of KZone were going to expose.

On Facebook, look at the video clip put up by "Killington Resort" this morning of driving down the hill. A few days ago, I was thinking it would be pushing November before the road was open. I now think it will be paved and open to traffic by October 1. Just my opinion. Look at the video clip compared to aerial photos taken recently and decide for yourself. They didn't get much done the first week but there is now a huge amount of equipment directed at getting the road open.

Made the trip today from Glazebrook to W Leb, with tons of stops in between, road is officially closed but they are letting local traffic through with good reason. Drove through from "The office" to Glazbrook around 6:45 Windsor County Sheriff & Killington Town Constable just west of wipe out at RT4 & 100S parked off to the side traffic moved pretty smooth just slowed down because of 5-0

I wonder how this closure of Rt 4 is affecting the Bridgewater town coffers without the speeders opening their pocketbooks??

HA, does that offend you? Dont answer...I dont care. Im tired of seeing video cameras sticking out of every widow w/ an out of state plate and im sure that your very own moderator has similar feelings seeing people constantly stop in front of his home and having pictures taken of it.
