The WCAX TV story posted in a new thread says a month and a half before traffic is moving again on Route 4. I highly doubt that, at least from descriptions of progress I've heard.

We were "live" from that section of Rt. 4 in Mendon and it looks completely different than when we were there about a week ago, fast work indeed!

From the Killington Resort facebook page:
THIS JUST IN: The state of Vermont has released this statement about Route 4:
The remaining major east-west corridor is Route 4 between Woodstock and Rutland. Unless we experience some unforeseen setback, we anticipate this segment opening by next weekend, which is well before the height of foliage season.

Working hard and 24 / 7 is good, but sitting in a flood zone after a flood, while it is r*ining again doesn't seem like a place I would want to be.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, Route 4 should reopen next weekend.

Would there still be temporary closures after next weekend on a daily basis, or do they plan to focus on the other roads until after fall and winter?

The full article states that construction will continue so expect delays and lane closures.

while the closed segments of Route 4 will reopen next weekend. There still will be work zones and delays, and there will be patches of road that are dirt instead of asphalt. So both patience and caution need to be exercised. If you plan to use these roads when they open, leave plenty of extra time to reach your destination.
