On Friday the 20th alone, Killington Resort General Manager Chris Nyberg projected food and beverage sales alone at Bear Mountain base area to have exceeded $20,000 from attendance that tripled what one would generally see on an average weekend day.
Now this is interesting information. Killington doesn't publicize their revenues, etc. as a private company yet here we have a report in black and white in a supposedly reputable publication. And we now know that an average weekend day brings in only about $7,000 in F&B revenue at Bear.
I really hope that is net! $7,000 gross is nothing!
32,000 for the Dew Tour at K. Notice the wording. Total farce. Nice try. $20K at Bear? Powdr never releases numbers--why start now--just spinning. Maybe we should count the traffic on Rt4 and Rt7, since they were "here" for the Dew. Count all those tractor trailers too. These reporters simply eat-up the spin drivel fed to them and then regurgitate it in their respective media to make it a successful feely good report that keeps all the sponsors happy. If K is thinking they are getting a halo effect from hosting the Dew they need a check-up. Whatever the downslope biz increase they may possibly think they see is incremental and will be barely noticeable--it's wishful marketing. On TV K sure didn't look so good--did you see it? Don't know what K spent but they spent plenty on hard and soft dollars to be the Host.
One thing is for sure. Garbage In= Garbage Out. If last year they said 29,000 and this year is 32,000--well next year just must be 35,000.

This is the worst snow year a very very long time. Killington has been doing a great job keeping the mountain up and running this season. Making snow at every chance. The national coverage is huge for the town and resort. If you just cant live without Skyeburst for a little while, It's time you find another mountain. If Killington is f'ning you over so bad as a season pass holder by hosting the Tour, then find another mountain. The chronic bitching is getting really old. You know who you are.....
have you been up here lately? snowmaking expansion is done for the year, just gonna see a little base building on superstar and skye-bitter. Besides that only spot guns will continue this year. not very beastly
have you been here everyday since the hill opened? have you seen the weather day in and day out?
what does that matter? I am up most weekends and have seen many times they could have been blowing snow and were not. With my season pass I bought the right to bitch
and all the snow they could have blown would have washed down the hill with the warmth and r*in we've had...

hasn't seem to be a problem for other resorts around, every mountain has been dealt the same shitty deal this year.
According to this article, Killington revenues are down 8% so far this season. I rode the Skye Ship yesterday with someone who claimed his wife works at Okemo and their revenues are down 38% this season.

not surprised that everyone's revenue is down this season and if we are to believe the numbers, that there's that great a disparity. nonetheless perhaps k was helped by the fact that they were open for that first month when no one else (other than sr) was open and were able to ride that momentum a bit.

The December traffic counter on the Access Road was only down 2.6% from last year. November was down 7.6% from last year. January numbers won't be out for another 3 weeks. That aligns with 8% better than 38%.

Read what was written. K's revenues ARE down 8%, Okemo's revenue rumored to be down 38%. From your link, what I believe to be the Okemo access road was down 5.6% in November and 12.8% in December, down significantly more than Killington.
What am I missing here? The December 2010 link and December 2011 link are actually the same file from 2010.

Not supporting or arguing either side just an FYI.
Many of the more successful resorts revenue comes from skier visits, Killington revenue is heavily based on daily ticket sales. So Killington could be down a smaller percentage of revenue based on daily ticket sales and other resorts would be down more based on their method of deriving revenue.
Sort of like Haff deriving revenue from guest visits and everyone else deriving revenue from room occupancy, allegedly of course.

No, I didn't forget. Just commenting on the fact that (literally) half of your posts here involve Jim Haff in some way.
