I think the major thing we have to worry about right now is the upper half of Supestar. Notice that they made snow on the bottom half only? Top half is a bit thin IMHO....will they make snow on it?
Five? I believe they blew vertigo (briefly). By my count there are 4 trails not getting any love this year... Downdraft, Double Dipper, Ovation and Figgle.
I must of blinked. All of Vertigo?
I know it was open briefly, but I thought on natural. I didn't ski it because I had my good skis on.

You sure about that?
The permanent installation at Bear has been gone since then end of the ASC years.
Went by where the installation at Snowshed was last month. All I saw were rentals.

Strated the day at Bear today, pulled into the lot at 8:40 AM. It was r*ining so the 6 of us in the lodge sat around till about 10 AM . Keep checking the radar on the i phone, coast was clear so headed out to a largely deserted mnt. r*in did lttle if any damage. Great day with the excaption of the low cloud ceiling, which hung around till about 3 PM, just as we were walking out to the car. Did the bum race, 2 runs. Shaved 6 seconds off the last race, still have a ways to go. A little sleet was mixing in at the end of the day at the top of the SPQ.
6 compressors left Bear today, 6 still there. 3 trailers in the lot, have a picture on the i phone, have to fixure out how to post. Tommorow will be hard and fast with a high of 20.

Upper Dream Maker never saw any love, either. That is unfortunate since it's the first thing to soften in the spring after the mountain shrinks.

BINGO!
I do not know for certain but....
In my experience teaching at three different Ski Areas in three different states in the last twenty years the modus operandi seems to be to make snow every chance they get till Pres week and then coast thru the rest of the season. Wouldn't surprise me to find out some of those rental returns were planned last summer.

This is their normal schedule with the rental compressors, every year. Every year we have this discussion. I doesn't mean snowmaking is done.

2007 huh? It's now 2012.
As far as I can tell from the amendments all the existing equipment was retired with the exception of BR11 which was moved to Snowshed and retrofitted with pollution controls. If that still exists then it is probably the only permanent unit left, representing <10% of capacity.
Looks like the rest is rentals now.

+1. This kind of crap needs to stop. It's an important event for Killington. They are more than capable of blowing enough snow to pull this off. I'm all for freedom of speech, but this comes close to yelling "Fire" in a crowded theatre.
Jesus, someone's panties sure got in a twist over this one...
If you can't see the problem with someone putting out patently false information that could possibly affect Killington's & the access road businesses my explaining it would be a waste of time.
In case you're too thick to figure it out from my avatar, I come from another area that relies on tourism. I see first hand the devastating impact of BS like this. What "ISpreadTheLies" did as a cheap "look at me" stunt affects people's livelihoods. Just as an example, when well intentioned weathermen incorrectly predict r*in, people don't come; it hurts the Cape economy. This idiot DELIBERATELY spread a lie. Why should I be sympathetic to this pathetic loser?

This reminds of a similar thread from last month.

Speaking of winter, not only will the low temps bring our hardworking snowmakers back, there’s also a chance of SNOW Wednesday night.

Counted 37 guns/towers going on Superstar today. There was at least 6 ground guns at the top. There was also a few spot guns around along with about a dozen ground guns running on Lower Cascade.Only one rental compressor left at Bear and one on the access road. The one in the parking lot was being repaired by a Cummings engine tech.
I spoke with a snowmaker today and asked where all the air was coming from since all the rentals were gone. He said the were using the Simm Packs? which were run by electricity. I do not know where those are located at. This may explain why some additional lifts were shut down midweek to conserve kilowatt hrs for the compressors. Surface overall was pretty good the last 3 days considering.

Here's the thing:
When we finally get dumped on (law of averages says it will happen) we will skiing on more natural snow trails than ever. I don't think I've ever skied downdraft and double dipper on 100 percent natural. It could be great. Waiting, waiting, waiting........
