No dude, you're hardly the only one. My "Mount Snow" post just fell off the first few pages.

Mount Snow is an old stomping ground. When we graduated from the baby hill in our youth, Mount Snow seemed like the Matterhorn. Long before we made our way up to Killington. Mount Snow is great. It's only 62 miles away from my front door. There's the ups and downs, like they like to close lifts if somebody farts too hard. And sometimes it's REALLY crowded and there's nowhere to hide and no back doors like Skyeship. It's no Killington, but Mount Snow is the real deal and it's a fun time. We stayed there for a week earlier in the year. Great time and lots of good snow.

I still go there a couple of times a year. Man is it a short drive. You know about the quicker way, getting off in greenfield mass instead of going up to exit 2 in vt? Saves you about 20 minutes. 1 3/4 for me from hartford. I still have 2 ASC freebies left so i may end up going to snow one more time this year.
I get there in under 2hrs. Coming from MA. Rt2 West into Greenfield take the Mohawk trail then cross over Rt112??? in Colrain takes you right to Rt100. Real easy and nice drive.2knees wrote:I still go there a couple of times a year. Man is it a short drive. They are very very different mountains. The front of Mount Snow is entirely filled with Blue cruisers. Take a look at a trail map and you will see what I mean. They have the North Face area, which is all expert terrain. The runs with snowmaking there are comparable to something like East Fall at Killington. The ones without snowmaking are comparable to something like Escapade. The trail "Jaws" (used to be called Jaws of Death) reminds me of some runs at Sugarbush's Castlerock.
My experience is that the mountain tends to ice up very quickly.
I haven't been to Mt. Snow on a heavy traffic weekend since they redid the base lift system a while ago so I couldn't tell you anything about that.
I am sure others will have more comments, but hope this helps.

If I am going to drive that far, I am going the extra 45 minutes for GOOD skiing. Never dug the snow terrain. Snow has possibly the worst crowds with essentially the same idiots as Hunta which you have some of at K (you know, the type that think the Pico interconnect would be a good thing!) K has crowds, but many opportunities to escape them. Also, If I want to go to sugarbush and MR, its only another 45 mins.
90 minutes of driving for exponentially more happiness.
Don't short change yourself, Jim.

Also, aint it funny you post this thread on a KILLINGTON message board? Just an observation.Jim wrote:instead of killington? i mean it saves me about 45 mins of driving so i do it a lot. anyone else do it?
I had a ski house there one year and after 20+ days of riding, got bored with the terrain. Plus the freakin crowds were insane. You can't even get into the bar at the mountain to have a beer because all the people who come up from NY/NJ/CT just to party sleep in all morning and go to mountain for happy hour. I hated that. Snowbarn was a cool place to go out at night though and the Silo was good for happy hour - especially since it was two driveways down from my house.
I do go back for a day trip once a year in the spring time for the soft slushy snow. I'll be there tomorrow actually. McNeill's and/or The People's Pint makes the trip back much more enjoyable.
