Re: Killington's feedback on several kzone topics
I was at this meeting. I think this falls under "best intentions." December and January were rough with all the additional snowmaking needed; none of that was forecast at the time. Nor was the huge spike in power prices. As nice as it would be to ski Superstar in June, I am not optimistic.Dr. NO wrote:

Re: Killington's feedback on several kzone topics
Damn, but some times things change and it is out of your personal control. With normal snowfall in January things would have been totally different, budget performance would have been totally different, the mountain would have been totally different. Well, we did not get all the natural we wanted and thus the mountain spent a lot more in order to make the mid season days way more enjoyable than they may have been if the compressors were shut off. The mountain did not spend that extra money foolishly, but they did spend it as they deemed best for their business and got a lot of bang for their buck IMHO.
How about this solution: All pass holders of any type maintain a credit card link to their pass all season long. When it snows a lot and the mountain does not need to blow a lot of snow in Jan/Feb/Mar, we all get a small rebate back. THEN...when it snows very little and the trails need resurfacing a lot and Superstar needs 15 feet of depth added to it, we all get hit with a large surcharge.
Of course I am not serious about that, but unless all of us customers tie ourselves to the financial ups & downs created by mother nature we should be thankful that sound decisions are now being made and we are granted insights as to what is going on with our beloved hill. Nothing is guaranteed in life, only hoped for. Spouses all promise on a bible or whatever to love & cherish until death do you part, yet marriages change all the time and not for the best wishes of both parties, but only one party. I for one appreciate the best intentions of K Ops and enjoy their hard work every weekend.

We did melt practically to bare ground twice early on. This winter was only marginally better than 11-12 even though it's been great recently. Sometimes sh*t happens. We will ski into May and that is awesome given this year. At least we can feel pretty confident that if we get a normal snowfall season these guys are going to push for June in that year.

Junior - Claims that SL called MS a liar.
Truth is SL didn't call MS a liar. SL said that Mike S failed to deliver on his promise. That doesn't make MS a liar.
Ergo, Junior is a liar because he falsely claimed that SL said that Mike S was a liar.
---------
Couple of other things.
If I had to guess, I would say that MS wanted to make June wen he proclaimed to the world that "Solimano was determined to keep the lifts spinning til June" (Ski Mag article on the new Kton) and when he told homeowners that JT promised that they were going to go for June (see Rogman's post). This was the standard answer to the question in homeowner meetings. We are going to try for June. This was the expectation. This year he failed to do all he could to get us there.
Oh...and call me Weather GOD. What's up with that G-D thing? Are you afraid that GOd will strike you down with lightning if you actually spell it out? What a superstitious bunch we have in Kzone.
Finally, Kzone can thank me later for Junior's return to the forum. Baiting him was easy as pie. He defended Nyberg's Killington, so it was easy to predict that he would go all Mrs. G on me and defend MS's Kton to the death.
Missed you,

Geez, Mike stated Jeff told him June 1st. Going to play BS with what was said or meant? Sorry, but back off because Mike stated JEFF promised JUNE. things change and we know that, even in the hay day years of May and June 1st races. They said it was on their list. Don't hammer people for stating what Mike and Jeff stated. They said they would try or get there. Man, no wonder they stop talking to us. And you hammered someone about PROF about June, well, the meeting said they were looking to JUNE. Maybe Rogeman was dreaming and quoted his dreams.junior wrote:And again, I will ask, where did Mike promise June? SL calling Mike a liar because he claims Mike promised June is not what happened.
