For those shooting for the 100 day swag, does your pass need to get scanned on at least 100 days or do they take your word for it? I'm not going for 100 days. If I get 70 it will be a great season, but I don't get scanned a lot. When I do get scanned, the scanner often doesn't register because it's in a clear plastic pass pocket in my jacket and the scanner often can't read it. Same with my kids goggle pass holder. At the end of the year I am going to see how often I rode the lifts without being scanned.

The count they have for me is already wrong by 2 days. Guess I did not get scanned those two days.

You need to be scanned and have it register to accumulate the days for it to count towards your ski season total. I'm shooting for twice my age and it's been challenging getting scanned every day. I make sure that I get scanned at least once a day and ask for my total to make sure it registers on the scanner.

From what I've heard, it all goes by the scanner. Based on my last few years skiing, scanning accounts for about 60-70% of my ski days. They either don't scan me, don't know how to use the gun, or are too busy/preoccupied to scan 30-40% of the time. 20 something missed days last season. I guess it doesn't matter as a pass holder, but all those folks out there with express cards and day of use tickets that don't get scanned are skiing for free. Baffles me that K is potentially losing out on 30-40% of day ticket and express card purchases, and it's so commonplace that folks intentionally try to avoid being scanned.

This seems to be more of a problem at K than any other area I ski that still uses scan guns. It sometimes gets to the point that it's annoying at other areas because they are so diligent to make sure you are scanned each & everytime you ride the lift. At K not so much. How much K loses I have no idea but I'm sure K loses more than other areas especially with express cards. I can't imagine day ticket users not purchasing a ticket before riding lifts but I guess it happens.

K sells advance tickets that are direct to lift tickets (ski club tix, etc.), which expire the day they are scanned, but don't have a specific date on them. Don't get scanned, ticket is still good tomorrow!

K can be very bad at scanning. Two seasons ago I bought a ticket at the window on a blackout day, along with my two non passholder friends. The window sold us tickets for the wrong day, Sunday instead of Saturday. Every scanner beeped in error, but we all were allowed on the lifts, all day until our 3:30 ride at Ramshead, where we were told to go back to the ticket window to fix it. Instead, we called it a day. And skied Sunday on K...

I didn't realize that K still had direct to lift access for ski club tickets. Several years ago my wife & I were at Sugarbush with direct to lift ski club tickets. My wife made two runs & decided not to ski anymore because conditions weren't good. I realized that she was never scanned so I told her to keep the ticket because it was probably still good. Later that season we went back & sure enough that ticket was still good since it was never scanned. Sugarbush has since changed their policy & no longer offers direct to lift access with ski club tickets. You now have to exchange the ski club voucher at the ticket window for a lift ticket for that day & they are very strict about you having a ski club membership card to prove you are a current ski club member. Evidently people were selling these ski club tickets online & making a few bucks while still saving the purchaser money over the regular lift ticket price. One time my brother had a 1/2 dozen or so Sugarbush direct to lift ski club tickets left over & he asked me if I could try to sell them for him when I went up. Not only did I not have a problem selling them for $10 more than he paid for them but I wish I had more because more people wanted them than the amount of tickets I had. Even with me making $10 a ticket they were still $20 or more less than the regular ticket price. I treated the group I was with to lunch & beers that day. If K still sells these direct to lift ski club discount tickets I'm sure people are still making a profit on them selling them to non ski club members who should be paying the regular ticket price. If Sugarbush learned this about the ski club tickets K management must be asleep at the wheel if they haven't.

Enjoyed my ninth day today. The aircraft is the Grumman F-9 Cougar, a derivative of the F9F Panter jet.
