I am sure that on days like today (freeze after a thaw) the groomed was preferable to the ungroomed. I am with you that when conditions are good the ungroomed is preferable especially the natural trails and trees.

I like both. The variety is good. Ripping GS turns on sweet cord can be just as fun as charging through fun glades or a natural trail.

I`ve heard it said, and generally agree, there is no such thing as a groomed expert trail.

with that said, there are groomed trails that can be treacherous and are `expert` by default [except for most of the snowboarders that can get down any groomed trail with the bulldozer backedge technique].

Ungroomed natural trails and woods rule.

Love bumps and some tree runs. Prefer the ungroomed when the snow is soft, but the knee can't handle it so becoming a groomer guy to avoid the pain. May be a new knee in my future.

Has anyone ever skied before grooming came of age? It use to be an adventure and a challenge rather then a race to the bottom. Trails were trails, learn to ski un-groomed a become a better skier when possible.

Over Christmas, K groomed out pretty much anything with snow on it that they could get a cat to. They had to; limited terrain relative to the number of people (especially ones with low skill level). That's the way holiday weeks are, so I'm not upset about it. I'm of the opinion that after an ice event, might as well groom a few of them flat if its going to stay cold for a while, rather than just letting the trails lie fallow. The bumps reform pretty quick anyway.

totally agree. unless you get 12 inch or more snow, those same glazed over mogul fields just sit there useless. groom them flat and let people use the.
