Superpipe - Yes or No?

Would I rather they blew the Fiddle instead of the Superpipe? HELL YES.

Probably wouldn't get much argument from anyone here on that... Realistically, how many days do they need to blow on the Fiddle vs. how long they have to blow to build Dreamaker/The Pipe ???

They've got the Stash built, blew a few days on OL, should've slid right over and blew on The Fiddle...

100% agree. the fiddle usually doesn't get much more than 24 hrs of snowmaking. blowing that much snow on dreammaker seems a waste of resources. unfortunately in this day and age, need a half pipe to remain relevant.

How much do these giant features REALLY get used? And they can really kill a trail.

The Supertrail on the Sunbowl at Stratton was SO nice last year without the pipe, etc after the U.S. Open decided NOT to return . I know it's a shame for a Northeast resort to lose the U.S. Open but...

Supertrail used to be out of commission as a normal trail for weeks before, during, and after the Open. It was nice to have it back for a whole season. Like Bear, Sunbowl isn't open early or late season, so the number of weeks is short.

I don't know if anybody is as attached to Dream maker. I'm not. I voted "Don't Care". I don't know if the making of the pipe has as much impact on use of resources as we might think.

Still, if they would put the money in a kitty toward a new South Ridge Lift, I'll change my vote to "No".

I agree a Super pipe would likely NOT work on the bottom of Superstar. Agree it would be fun to watch if it could.

The superpipe is all for show and impression. Looks great when you are on the lift, rides/skis like crap in reality.
Why would you even think about moving it to SS? That is just going to make the whole trail a freakin ice trap with all those boarder rats plowing down the trail.

I'm not a boarder, twin tip or any other kind of fan tangled park/pipe skier/boarder. Couldn't give a crap about pipes or parks. Total waste of resources in my book.

Should've moved the pipe to the right of Superstar so it would get viewed from the RUB, and snow could be reclaimed in the spring, not just be wasted melt after Bear closes in the spring.

I say use lookers right on bottom superstar. Where the early season moguls were... That is a prime spot for a "smaller" pipe or rail/box to jump. Early season to late. Move snow based on quantity remaining. When every other resort is closed why only provide moguls? Grab the people that love soft spring parks too. Once they realize the value.... They can get another fan tower near the ss base...

Well im glad there are atleast some other skiers/riders who don't ride park that still support what many others and myself would like; a nicely maintained park with a variety of features... Unless its a nice spring day or powday I spend 95% of my time in the park, and I am not alone. Forget the revenue, I can't understand why other fellow winter enthusiasts who share the love for the sports would have such a beef with one or two or dare I say three trails are devoted to different levels of park (beginner, intermediate, advance etc). You have so much terrain at a place like K that you would think there is room for everyone. And I do support a smaller walled pipe (but a pipe non-the-less, especially a "peace pipe" which would have smaller walls but various jibs spread out to make the pipe a more unique experience) than a superpipe...Can't we all just get down the way we like (if we aren't endangering others...) seems simple to me

It would be more useful to blow snow on say the fiddle than a superpipe on which most kids just ski up half the wall.

yep, I rarely ride park or pipe except for the occasional warm day soft snow ride thru or two... But there are almost always a ton of riders/skiers when I do... Can;t see a problem w diverese "terrain" for a diverse set of preferences...Still sux that wildfire became what it did and the loss of the bump fields on dreammaker suck too...Haven't seen what I'd call "good" lines on OL in a decade or more it seems, at least not on a regular basis...guess that's why I only buy a spring pass for K now...can't stop supe from bumping up in april and may!!!

bigger waste of resources is the huge jumps on Dream Maker. How many people can actually and safely take those jumps? How many jumps are spotted for landings and clearing the previous jumper? There is a lot of snow on that run which could have been pumped on devil's fiddle or other areas (Pipedream?). Besides, from the 1st small knoll to the top of the pipe was a great high speed run early in the day. Now it is a park.

They already blow snow on OL and it is skiable past the closing date of bear so why would you blow more snow there? Blow the extra snow from the pipe on the fiddle or ovation. As much as I love the fiddle, it would be nice to keep ovation going into may.

I like what the pipe looked like late last year after they blew snow on it early and then stopped. Then it just set up naturally by the skiers/riders like the early days of pipes and it was much more fun going through there. I rarely went through it when it was fully built and couldn't even get a few feet up the walls! The walls are always solid ice. More like a giant ice sculpture! There's a reason why there's no big pipe events in the east anymore. None of the big names want to ride/ski the pipes in the east. They're even afraid of them! I've been through the pipe at Breckenridge and it's a bigggggg difference in quality of snow compared to east pipes. Of course, I still can't get more than a few feet up on that one either! I'm not a pipe/park person anyway. I don't hit many of the manmade jumps except the very small ones. Too painful. I like to hit jumps that form naturally and not jumps and landings that feel like they were chiseled out of ice!
