An increase in tax? Yes. An outrageous increase? Political suicide. Neither will pass a Republican congress although I might see an increase of some kind tied to opening up more Federal lands for drilling.

Nothing but a Political hack job with the " some in Congress " being the only reference to anyone. " Boston Herald " comes as no surprise, No names, no quotes, no links...........Just more of the same . But I'd still like to see ALL the old cronies OUT and get some new Americans in offices .

Stories like these are a dime a dozen for both sides , > ..example ; http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/pos ... ings-away/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Who needs Congress' approval? Just instruct the Transportation department to add more tax to the fuel like all the other departments do. Look at your phone and cell phone bills. The congress didn't vote on all of those fees and taxes. When entering office BO wanted at least a $5 gas price and then push to meet and match Europe's prices. Now is the chance to really screw us in his last "elected" term.

Fees can be added by agencies. Taxes are voted on by legislators, whether state or federal.

Its time for a constitutional amendment that equates fees and taxes so all have to be voted on AND originate in the house. I am tired of being told "oh, its not a tax, its a fee". I pay it to the same entity!
