Spartan Race Sat Sep 19 - Sun Sep 20

Post by RustyK »

Heading up to watch a friend compete in this race. Looks tough.

Anybody ever been to this event? Trying to figure out a good place to camp out and view the event.

Spartan Race

Killington / Things To Do / Events / Events Calendar / Spartan Race

Resort-Wide
Sat Sep 19 - Sun Sep 20

Home of the 2014 Spartan World Championship, this course is brutal.

Located in what is known as ‘Joe’s backyard’, this land is where the company was founded; that means anything goes. Steep slopes. Muddy waters. Huge hills. This epic setting makes for one of our most badass, challenging, demon-riddled Beasts of the year. We’re looking for the baddest beasts of the east to come tear up the terrains where Spartan Race has its roots. Be forewarned though, the course is known to destroy the body, legs, mind and soul.

This is a Spartan Race like the founders envisioned. They’ve gotten on their hands and knees to build the course. You’ll have to do the same to complete it.

Competitors can choose to race in the Ultra Beast: 26+ miles, the Beast: 12+ miles or the 3.5+ mile Sprint. Additionally, young Spartans are invited to race the Spartan Kids Races.

Rather watch? We’ve got you covered. Spectator locations will be set up the K-1 deck, the Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars, the Snowshed area and the Snowshed Pond.

Date

September 19-20, 2015

Registration

Registration closes at 12:00 pm on Friday before the event. Entry fees vary by registration date and class.

Spectators? At $20-25 a head, that's some decent coin.

I don't like the policy of charging spectators admission... Most times its family/friends of the participants that are there for support.
Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, then overwhelm you with their experience.

We have had competitions on who would fall the least / most hiking DOWN OL in the summer. Most fall several times due to the steep and uneven, wet, moss covered rocks.

Way more people that I expected to see. ALL lots full or over by 7:00 AM. ALL bars open. More than during the ski season. Access road fully opened.

How did I not know of this before? Spartan is a cult of some sorts I guess. 14 mike course looks very rough. Sunday the elites did it twice.

My legs are sore just from walking down from the peak bar. Pickle was opened with a happy hour sized crowd.

Brew fest won't be nearly as crowded.

Maybe because you were spending all that time at the peak bar?

These events have become hugely popular. We actually did the race last year and I too was amazed to see the crowd of participants and spectators alike.

Last year a fellow from iPie told me that the Saturday night was busier than any day they had ever had including the busiest ski season weekends.
