The Camden shows are within fences so most all the people there are "tour rats"..junior wrote:You cannot compare the Dead with the Grateful Dead. Two very different things. And on a side note, Camden, NJ is a far cry from Park Avenue my friend.
Please don't patronize me Mrs Junior.. I know the difference between Camden and Park Ave.
Maybe i didnt notice when i was younger but the last time i caught the dead, a.d. jerry, it definitely seemed different and less about having a good time and more about getting sh*tfaced and almost like people were looking for fights and sh*t. I dont know, i loved the old days and would still like to be able to catch a show now and then. it's all good.DMC wrote:I would go to shows... Just put a chair up - drink a few beers and watch..junior wrote:There was a lot more to the Dead than just the shows. The whole experience was what it was about...the music, the shows, the scene, the lot, the people, etc...
How could you follow the Dead on tour and not be part of the scene?
Had lots of friends on tour - they'd stop by - we'd drink... whatever..
I always thought the lot was sketchy...
I really was in it for mainly the live music.. Which I miss a shitload...
I almost got the crap beat out of me by a gang of "Hippy Mafia"...BobR wrote:DMC The Camden lot was well.. active the last couple years especially along the river.
They asked why I left the show and I said the band sucked and was uninspired...
Good thing they couldnt walk fast... With those friggin balloons attatch to their mouths...
Go to the show with a ticket see the show. Seems logical, but its not. I have always tried to do it with a little style. Don't go if you can't afford it. Simple.DMC wrote:I almost got the crap beat out of me by a gang of "Hippy Mafia"...BobR wrote:DMC The Camden lot was well.. active the last couple years especially along the river.

Agreed. A much different scene after Jerry passed. The heads we used to hang with were way cool. Never encountered any violence, just good times with good people.2knees wrote:Maybe i didnt notice when i was younger but the last time i caught the dead, a.d. jerry, it definitely seemed different and less about having a good time and more about getting sh*tfaced and almost like people were looking for fights and sh*t. What??? The last two summers were filled with gate crashing and near riots.. They almost cancelled shows...junior wrote:Agreed. A much different scene after Jerry passed. The heads we used to hang with were way cool. Never encountered any

I stopped going to show at stadiums after a guy fell out of the messanine at Giants Stadium and landed 2 rows behind me.....
It was horrible...
The Meadowlands were notorius for bad things happening. We never had any problems though.DMC wrote:What??? The last two summers were filled with gate crashing and near riots.. Dear Creek 95 comes to mind...
Yeah, I guess you're right. Deadheads were all a bunch of a-holes. Violent, drug abusing, broke, no good a-holes. Couldn't care less for their fellow brother or sister. Yep, that was us for sure.DMC wrote:Wasnt just the meadowlands Mrs Junior...junior wrote:The Meadowlands were notorius for bad things happening. We never had any problems though.DMC wrote:What??? What was I ever thinking by following that band around.

I'm not saying all Deadheads are bad.. I consider myself one..
I'm just saying there is a certain sketchiness that went along with the "scene"... And it manifested itself in violence sometimes at large outdoors shows..
Never experienced that "sketchiness" you speak of. Like I said, just good times with good people.DMC wrote:Now THATS the Junior I know and love..junior wrote: Yeah, I guess you're right.
