from what I saw if you go out the front of the lodge on the second floor you will be at grade level w the snow or relatively where kbl is now....if you go out the first/ground level floor you will be at grade level w the gondola....if you go out the third floor bar it means you pissed someone off and they chucked you out the window....skiadikt wrote:my sense is that it would be easier to ski from supe to k1. but since the lodge would be downhill of the current lodge, the commute from the lodge to supe might be a bit tougher. like hatter says they're aware of all the issues and hopefully will include as much as they can in the design.

Umbrella magic carpet or bridge could ease the traverse between those buildings.
Regardless, the primary schlep should get considerably reduced
Act 250 enforcement may dictate a full time guard shack over the Brook.

Re: What's the big announcement?
I think the Supe -> K1 Schlep is going to be about the same. I think the footprint of the new building on the "Canyon" side is going to be similar to what we have now.
Goes to show, you don't never know

Don't you let that deal go down

Looks like its going down no matter what I do !!!

Re: What's the big announcement?
Exact footprint side, it seems to me you could shave off most of the "hump" between the corner of the existing deck to the Snowdon Triple. This would give a short steeper section where you cut into the hill, mostly below the tree island. We could call that steeper section the "hump-wall".

Anyone know where the new snowmaking pipe on Pico is going to be located?

There was bellyaching stuffed in there. But by K-zone standards, you're probably right, tame so far. There's still 2 years to turn it up a notch.Bubba wrote:I don't see any bitching. "upscale food court set to offer fresh, farm-to-table cuisine"
If this matches the quality of the offerings at the peak lodge, this will be a major upgrade in itself.

Thanks Bubba. And Newpy knows me from that other board...
A criticism worth making, I thought. Spent the week there a couple weeks ago with a beginner. West to East fine: Snowshed to Needle's or the peak to anywhere. My novice even tackled the short pitch off the back of the Supe chair to Skyewalker. But midweek, with no South ridge chair, the tunnel to Ram's sucks and so does polling around KBL. If they're going to replace the lodge, seems like it wouldn't be too hard to have some snow surface on the downhill side to make the connections I mentioned in a... You know... DOWNHILL fashion. Great that there's still a chance to fix this down the hill a price with the village, but I think it's a missed opportunity.
