Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
Interesting as I read today in a different ski forum, that the quarantine policy still remains in place even if one previously had Covid and recovered or has received the vaccine already.
In both instances, that person has the antibodies and as such isn't capable of spreading the disease.
Seems like another in the list of examples where "follow the science" only applies if it results in more, and not less, governmental control over society.....

Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
I’m not sure that science isn’t being followed here. We are still waiting to see if vaccine recipients can or cannot continue to be carriers. The same should hold true of those who tested positive and recovered. Both sets of people should have antibodies and be similarly contagious (or not).DrJeff wrote: ↑Jan 3rd, '21, 20:33 Interesting as I read today in a different ski forum, that the quarantine policy still remains in place even if one previously had Covid and recovered or has received the vaccine already.

Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
The VT quarantine, and many others like it, were about fear more than preventing the spread. People naturally fear outsiders, and the pandemic exacerbated that fear by making people think outsiders would bring this disease. Reality is nothing was going to stop the spread across state lines. There's way too much interstate commerce that couldn't realistically be stopped. The politicians with this quarantine BS were/are just placating their base.

Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
If a negative test is considered a pass for many of these travel restrictions, then there is no reason a vaccine with 95% efficacy shouldn't be. This is definitely an example of where "follow the science" only applies if it means tightening down more.DrJeff wrote: ↑Jan 3rd, '21, 20:33 Interesting as I read today in a different ski forum, that the quarantine policy still remains in place even if one previously had Covid and recovered or has received the vaccine already.

Regarding natural immunity, the CDC doesn't even recommend quarantine for close contacts who already had covid in the past 3 months, but if you make it a pass for travel restrictions, then you'd have people trying to get infected.
Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
I think it's following the path of simplicity. If you're in the lift line without a mask, are you going to have to show proof of vaccination or prior infection to avoid confrontation? I'm pretty happy with K's overall approach. I hate masks, but whatever, pull it up in line. No big deal.
Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
and theres no reason to scream at someone that isnt wearing it or wearing it properly in the lift line. I myself have even forgotten to pull it back up when coming into the lift line. I wish the lifties were a little bit more conscious and consistent with informing ppl to mask up in line thoughrandom1 wrote: ↑Jan 4th, '21, 11:58I think it's following the path of simplicity. Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
I think they've been pretty good overall.
There was a red jacketed Karen at Supe yesterday that asked my wife ' if those were holes in her mask ' yesterday.
Like the masks everyones wearing are N95s.

Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
my initial reaction would be to tell Karen to STFU but I'd just ignore her and let her wonder...

Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
that so called "karen" is a snowsports school employee on mask patrol (yes, a real job this year) doing her damn job. don't want to wear a proper mask (and no, ski masks with holes don't count)? then go home. we don't need your money. plenty of other guests who aren't entitled pricks following the rules.hillbangin wrote: ↑Jan 4th, '21, 13:18 I think they've been pretty good overall.

as for shouting... employees will ask nicely the first few times. if you need frequent reminders, say goodbye to your pass. you're not welcome.
Re: Vermont: MANDATORY Quarantine Policy
people who have been asked multiple times to put on their mask will be publicly shamed and/or asked to leave. management has employees backs on this.BoozeTan wrote: ↑Jan 4th, '21, 13:11and theres no reason to scream at someone that isnt wearing it or wearing it properly in the lift line. She was a Karen. I have no issue with it.
Just saying she was the only staff person I've seen that has 'enthisiastically' done her job.
