Re: Expansion
If I recall correctly, SP Land took over the land from ASC in exchange for loans worth over $50 million. POWDR bought the resort for somewhere around $80 million (again IIRC) but they and SP Land had a 20% interest in each others' business. According to the article posted in another thread on Killington Forward, Great Gulf bought out the property at $45 million. I also believe some of the property over by Sunrise was sold by SP Land more recently for well under $1 million. Whether that included POWDR's 20% is unknown, at least to me. When I asked Mike Solimano about it last winter leading up to the state's approval of TIF, he said it was under discussion. So, given the complications, it's difficult to know how much was lost by which company but it's clear that the value of the land dropped over the intervening years.

Re: Expansion
Powder didn't have their fingers in this loss. They acquired ~20% of the ownership of the developable land as part of the purchase. The loss really occurred years prior when ASC borrowed far more than the land was worth using it as collateral, and then defaulted.
Well over $50 million.

I thought it was a six figure in the milions that the land ended up fetching. Oak Hill days or what ever their name was from Texas.Mister Moose wrote: ↑Jan 16th, '24, 17:14Powder didn't have their fingers in this loss. Re: Expansion
indeed. it ran monday as well. might have jumped the gun on that but it hadn't run the previous couple mondays & wednesdays (including new years day). perhaps it was simply a matter of limited terrain and it is a redundant lift.jimmywilson69 wrote: ↑Jan 17th, '24, 10:33 Its Wednesday Canyon is running with people on it. we shall see whether they make good on their SR "promise". again it may have been a matter of terrain (though they now have that) or they're waiting for "peak" season - feb & march.
as for snowmaking, hours have been cut but they are still working OT, just not as much. and as we've seen. they are continuing to forge ahead with downdraft now on-line, timberline probably for the weekend, finishing up lower GE, bear cub etc and wouldn't be surprised if we see snowmaking on OL in the coming days. again time will tell if we see the other expected trails get snowmaking. all is not lost.
right now skiing is great. we have the most open terrain by far in the NE. unlike other window jumpers, will judge the success or failure of the season hopefully on june 2.

"Temps are expected to be quite chilly for the next few days so make sure to bring layers to the mountain. Our snowmaking team has been putting out some of the best quality man-made snow as they continue to work on Timberline and Lower Great Eastern. We are also focusing our snowmaking efforts on Bear Cub and Sun Dog over at Sunrise. Once we are able to wrap up progress on the trails, we are currently making snow on, we’ve got our sights set on Outer Limits and Dream Maker."
With any luck, we'll get all of DM again...
By then there should be capacity for something else in the Basin as well:

Re: Expansion
Looks like 6 good days of temps.. maybe Newpy or someone that knows something can speculate on production. I could see them not building DM given the speculated loss. Though I’m not sure if that would really fly with the Woodward brand and also hard to compare this season to 15-16 at this point.Stormchaser wrote: ↑Jan 18th, '24, 09:42 What's the over/under on Timberline considering Highline took 8 days? I think they'll wrap up Timberline quicker than Highline because it's been significantly colder than when they were working Highline.
I also believe they'll build Dreammaker as well but possibly with a modified pipe like last year.
