Re: Mary Lou's closing
What’s the story? This place, the mall, should be a gold mine. It was the best back in the PPeppers / Outback days. No one wants to eat at Baja when it’s only open like a day a month, the rest of the days the food is rotting. And Jesus, no one needs more of Merisa, no one loves her more than she loves herself. Same with Mary Lou’s, like I wanna eat the food when they’re open a few days a month?
If only Killington had an amazing breakfast place and an amazing taco place…
And no, Liquid Art, Backcountry, and Sunup, are not amazing breakfast places. I might love Sunup but that nasty lady who works there is a customer service nightmare and an awful person. Walked in to Sunup recently and was ignored for a good 10 minutes while the place was empty. The short haired old lady hates everyone. As well, Rivershed, Jax, and Charity’s are not amazing taco places.
I know, I know, the locals are gonna get all up in arms… But f*** off, the food in Killington sucks, it’s AWFUL. Another Sysco burger, some more Sysco wings, great. Maybe someone will open something super cool and name it something so awesome like Flannels. Just get some flare and a Time Machine back to the 80’s. Great!

When I want a taco, I don't head to VT; that being said, I had a really strange taco experience at one of the places you mentioned; it was like the old El Paso kit you get from the grocery store.skibikeclimbguy wrote: ↑Sep 15th, '24, 22:09 What’s the story? do we really need to bully people who arent even on this forum (presumably) to defend themselves? so unnecessary and mean spirited for no reason.skibikeclimbguy wrote: ↑Sep 15th, '24, 22:09 What’s the story? agree on the food in general though - so many options on the access road and nearly all of them are nothing to write home about. killington mountains food is great though especially for a ski resort.
Re: Mary Lou's closing
Agree there is no need to bully the restaurant owners / managers and IMO skibikeclimbguys reviews are overly harsh. We honestly don't go out to eat on winter weekends very often to avoid the crowds so our experiences are mostly on the shoulder seasons or on the odd weeknight that we might be up there in Winter. IMO though Sunup and Backcountry are solid. Have not been to Liquid Art. Tacos at Rivershed are quite good (as is a lot of the other food). Charities is solid. Yoshi is very good (good takeout option for us). Lookout is standard bar food but has a generally good atmosphere and I'd say is tasty overall. I only went to Mary Lou's a couple of times but the pizza was fine. (I agree that Outback in its prime was better - but i'm not sure PPeppers set the bar for any high end quality of food?)asher2789 wrote: ↑Sep 17th, '24, 06:25do we really need to bully people who arent even on this forum (presumably) to defend themselves? so unnecessary and mean spirited for no reason.skibikeclimbguy wrote: ↑Sep 15th, '24, 22:09 What’s the story? Have not been to Baja, Caseys, Garlic, Jax, Domenics in years (not that i had any bad experience, just don't go out enough to try everything)
I can't really comment on the food at the resort itself - I'm not in for a $25 lunch hamburger - they have priced me out there.
Re: Mary Lou's closing
liquid art has amazing cocktails and great art on the walls too you should check it out. ive always thought yoshi was wildly overpriced and overrated but im also spoiled by growing up going to a zagat rated japanese place in NY... tokyo house in rutland is betterLow Rider wrote: ↑Sep 17th, '24, 09:18Agree there is no need to bully the restaurant owners / managers and IMO skibikeclimbguys reviews are overly harsh. Re: Mary Lou's closing
Maybe Mad Taco (Waitsfield, Middlebury) will someday open a spot in Killington. There's a taco (or burrito, fajitas, enchiladas) that I go out of my way in VT for.Pedro wrote: ↑Sep 16th, '24, 20:25When I want a taco, I don't head to VT; that being said, I had a really strange taco experience at one of the places you mentioned; it was like the old El Paso kit you get from the grocery store.skibikeclimbguy wrote: ↑Sep 15th, '24, 22:09 What’s the story? Re: Mary Lou's closing
Killington Golf Clubhouse has some of the best food on the mountain - too bad it does not get promoted more - it definitely deserves better exposure! Many non-bikers-golfers would enjoy lunch on the deck …. if only they knew about it
Re: Mary Lou's closing
That whole "Killington Mall" should be bulldozed, or at least sold to someone willing to make some investments in its appearance. Killington Auto should also move or give up on looking like a junk yard. Too bad they didn't move to River Rd when Mountain Motors was sold.
Re: Mary Lou's closing
Only time I have tried was one time when we went tubing a few years back. I remember the pizza being decent.
Do prices there align with current base lodge pricing?
Don't Killington Pico
