Re: Best boot shop?
Some of it user preference. I was 5'8 180 last season and in a 130 flex. I've dropped 10# and hope to stay there for this year and don't anticipate my boots feeling too stiff. I ski a Nordica Speedmachine 130S. Nordicas are somewhat known for being on the softer side compared to say Lange though.

Re: Best boot shop?
Yes - For those of us that have that have a ski quiver that covers the last decade. Half my skis have GTW Bindings and the other half do not. My solution is to have the ski shop swap out the GTW soles to the normal flat soles on the last couple new pairs of boots that I purchased. Need another new pair of boots this year so this niche issue is still in play in my world.

Re: Best boot shop?
Thanks GIS. For future skis are you going with GTW bindings? If you hit could hit reset on all the gear which setup would you choose?

Re: Best boot shop?
Yes - All my new skis are GTW bindings. Mix of different binding manufacturers. My ski boot has been the Salomon X-pro 120 for the last decade. I am on my fifth pair and normally retire boots after 300 days so I replace boots every two years.
The ski world is marching ahead with GTW so I need to move ahead at some point.
My Non GTW Quiver
Volkl Katana 112 - Favorite powder ski
Fisher RC4 - My race ski (Dr No's last ski)
Stockli SC - Favorite carving powder ski
Nordica Enforcer - Favorite ski to hate
Renoun Endurance - Just replaced these with a new pair
Volkl M5 - Rock ski
Volkl Tigershark - Favorite oldie
Volkl Mantra - Current only uphill set-up.
The GTW Quiver
Volkl Katana 108 - Favorite crud ski
Volkl M6 - Daily driver
Volkl M102 - Daily driver
Renoun Endurance - Low tide daily driver
My long term plan is to get new powder and race skis then I can abandon the non GTW quiver. Until then I am swapping out GTW boot soles for the old style flat soles that work with all my different bindings.
Aspen East is my boot shop of choice. They are like family. Call PJ my personal ski tech.

Why the hate on the Enforcer? I grabbed a pair last season from one of the bar backs and can't wait to try them...Mister Moose wrote: ↑Sep 22nd, '24, 08:50 That's not a quiver, that's a ski shop.
I didn't get the Enforcer love either.

And they aren't great at anything.
Did not live up to the hype.

The Enforcer is one most popular skis for good reason. It can be skied everyday under nearly any snow condition. Huge fanbase that love the ski. The ski is easy on the legs for a true all mountain ski.Dude GFY wrote: ↑Sep 22nd, '24, 12:33Why the hate on the Enforcer? Added a lightly used pair of Enforcers to the quiver a few seasons ago to get a handle on why I don't share the love. Used them as my low tide daily drivers for a few seasons. I started to call them my Old Man skis. Very easy choice for large number low tide days we see all too often. They became an easy mindless choice in my world.
Pulled the trigger on a new pair of Renoun Endurances as I have worn out two previous pairs of this ski. This ski is truly is a ski that touches my heart. The Enforcer fans can have their ski as it is winner for most. Pretty sure that after spending over 150 days on the Enforcer it is not a true love of mine.

Re: Best boot shop?
I've got a pair of the enforcer 93's from a few seasons ago in my quiver. I tend to view them in the following way, if we're not talking bumps or deep powder, they do most everything else well, not great, but well so they're an easy choice to grab on most days of the year, and one that at the end of my day, I rarely will be second guessing myself of using them that day, but at the same point, I'm also not thinking " BEST SKI EVER" type thoughts about them. I demo'd the new for this season enforcer 94's last March and was equally not blown away by them either. Again, they did a bunch of stuff well, but nothing really GREAT.....Mister Moose wrote: ↑Sep 22nd, '24, 08:50 That's not a quiver, that's a ski shop.

Going to be curious this coming season as to how the 2 new similar genre skis I picked up in the off season, a pair of Peak 88's (got those last April and haven't skied them yet) and then I finally saw a deal on a pair of Kastle MX88's, that at $650, I couldn't pass up, a little over a week ago, so they're scheduled to be delivered in the next few days.. Do I need both? Nope. Do I think I'll end up selling off 1 of them? Likely. I am also trying to come up with the excuse I'll tell my wife as to why I bought the Kastle's and need to keep both them and the Peak 88's? YUP!

Re: Best boot shop?
Purchased boots at multiple shops at Killington.
Preference would be Northern dependent upon who is working.
Person explained a lot about my daughter foot interaction with race boots.
Information was spot on not trying to sell expensive foot beds and he was correct when we mad changes he recommended.
With that in mind, you need to go to multiple shops to try different brands. Certain boots are well worth the extra money and you will be wearing them for 10 plus years then disappointed when the lining is shot and you can't get a new one.

Ended up going to Surefoot for the full fitting. Today will be day 4 and they’re good so far. May take them back for a tweak to one of the arch supports but want to get another day or two on them to see for sure.
Didn’t think I’d use the integrated heaters and ended turning them on in the first hour on the mtn.
Like GIS said GTW not niche at all, seems like everything is going that way. Pedigree in Westchester NY doesn’t carry anything else.

IMHO, the Surefoot boot heaters are excelllent. I like the solid attachment to the side of the boot [around the power strap] where they don't get whacked by the chair. I also like the ease of getting the connector into the battery, the flexibility of the cable, and the neat little elastic cable connector storage spot !HelmetCam wrote: ↑Dec 15th, '24, 06:13 Ended up going to Surefoot for the full fitting. Although I haven't used it yet, nice feature that you can control them from your phone.
