Killington Auto should also move or give up on looking like a junk yard. Too bad they didn't move to River Rd when Mountain Motors was sold.

I eat dinners and buy gift cards at The Garlic, Sushi Oshi and Dominics and enjoy lunches at The Lookout often but being I’m over in Mendon , there is an Applebees there that is always very good. I also like Johnny Boys for breakfast .

Could be. Jealous of the gainfully employed?…

It's a falling apart franken building added onto and poor construction. It will likely be a tear down hopfully soon. Yeah it has sentimantal value but it is a ghost that should only be a memory. Walking dead hooptie building today. Whoever owns that land is holding out for a big pay day! I’m sure that there are some other good places around but these are all my frequently visited favorites.

I agree that both the old Outback pizza building and that rip off auto shop could go. I was driving up the access rd one snowy day and picked up something in my tire that was causing air loss and asked him to look at it and he spit out a monetary value that had me put air in the tire and go somewhere else.

As a shop owner of 35 years?… this is hysterical. Armchair managers. Yup…. K Auto is a bit untidy… and SHOULD feel compelled to be a better small town visual aesthetic…. But it’s theirs to do ad they see fit. You have choices…. Go elsewhere!

I have nothing but empathy for a restaurant owner on the access road that deals with a short season, high housing costs, has to compete for employees in a very tight labor pool, pay fixed costs through the slow season, and where the owner/manager has to work grueling hours in peak season. Not to mention come up with tasty food served with a smile on a consistent basis. Think that's easy? I invite all the complainers here to try it.

Mary Lou's closing
Everything is relative, and for ski resort access road fare, Killington restaurant options are plentiful and mostly pretty darn good.
Over the many years, I had eaten at numerous access road places a few times. But as a day tripper mostly, I hardly had a good sense of the whole selection. Doing the bum races, and going to the parties, gave me a good sample. Granted, having french toast at 5 PM at the Killington Diner was different.
Given how crowded most of the places get at peak times, the loss of Moguls and Mary Lou's will be noticed.
Dominic's used to be my favorite K pizza. Now it is the Moose Propane-Fired Food Truck. Perfect crust.

the big problem is that no matter how hard these people work, theyre still mostly ordering sysco up and down the access road and it shows. for the prices, nothing on the access road is worth it. that doesnt take away from their hard work or the challenges they face. but mediocre ingredients in -> mediocre dishes out.Mister Moose wrote: ↑Sep 22nd, '24, 11:18 I have nothing but empathy for a restaurant owner on the access road that deals with a short season, high housing costs, has to compete for employees in a very tight labor pool, pay fixed costs through the slow season, and where the owner/manager has to work grueling hours in peak season. The 40 years I spent working at UTC/LMC facilities has me used to the Sysco brand of food. Yup , I used to see the same tractor trailer backed up to the cafeterias at work.
