There Are Now TWO KMS's

Post by ski »

Here is the one of the first bonehead moves made by the new regime . . .. Killington Snow Sports School has been "rebranded" as Killington Mountain Sports School . . . . This is bound to sow confusion, especially from first time visitors . . . .. I can hear them now . ." Where is the Killington Mountain School? ? ?

I guess it takes some of the pressure off of the original KMS when out-of-control kids get blamed for stuff . . . "It's those damn KMS kids again . . .

the KMS kids are a menace but they are kids. The ones who should be held responsible for their on hill behavior are their coaches and then ultimately their parents

The further blurring of of Killington Mountain School (KMS) and Killington Mountain in the eyes of the public is a bit short sighted. Seems like an unforced error. Granted the owners are big KMS supporters, and I'm fine with that. Doesn't mean that the two operations have the same goals, each is a business with different objectives. Whether anyone wants to acknowledge it or not, there is a bit of a backlash against KMS (for that matter, all racing programs) by the rest of the skiing public. When teens and pre-teens in their racing jackets treat the general public as gates it sparks resentment. When they are given preferential or exclusive use of trails and other facilities, it further fans the flames. It's easy to disparage the kids as entitled brats, but the issue is always the parents with their elevated expectations paying the freight allowing it to happen. This subtle change is a blunder making the purchase look like a covert hostile takeover of the mountain by KMS. First Moguls, now this. The new owners are supposed to be smarter than this, not blinded by their own ideology.

Entitled is what I would call a bunch of grown men whining about the name of a ski school. GET A LIFE.

I find it more entertaining then listening to the story’s of them going to see the dead in the early 1970s that made my eyes bleed.

Well, I was really upset when they got to move the Upper Snowdon Poma to their own private little corner of Ram's. That was one of my favorite lifts.
