Tornado victims blocked from federal recovery aid after Trump denied request
https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/23/weather/ ... index.html
Disaster survivors in Arkansas left homeless by recent tornadoes have been blocked from receiving federal recovery aid after President Donald Trump rejected the state’s request to declare a major disaster in March.

The Trump administration denied Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ request for individual and public assistance following an outbreak of severe storms and tornadoes that also affected neighboring Mississippi and Missouri and left more than 40 people dead.

The denial follows executive orders signed by Trump seeking to shift the burden of disaster response and recovery from the federal government onto states, as extreme weather becomes increasingly destructive and costly in a warming world. It is unclear how states will fill the financial void, which for decades has been viewed as a federal responsibility given the wide-reaching, multi-state nature of disasters.

Both Trump and Department of Homeland Security Sec. Kristi Noem have made it clear they want to eliminate FEMA, which spends billions each year helping people get temporary housing and rebuild after storms. FEMA also funds public assistance for municipalities after disasters, including tornadoes, hurricanes or wildfires.

The denial of the request, dated April 11, said the Trump administration had “determined that the damage from this event was not of such severity and magnitude as to be beyond the capabilities of the state, affected local governments, and voluntary agencies. Accordingly, we have determined that supplemental federal assistance is not necessary.”

Yeah, that's probably not going to help the poll numbers...
According to the latest Fox News poll, conducted between April 18-21 among 1,104 registered voters, Trump's approval rating currently sits at 44 percent, with 55 percent disapproving. The poll has a plus or minus 3-percentage point margin of error.

i made a post about this in a different thread but the whole thing is fishy. the dude who broke the story is a former IDF guard and is famous for lying about saddam being responsible for 9/11, leading us into the iraq war. im sure DUI hire hesgeth is dumb enough to use signal, but this has foreign interference on behalf of israel written all over it because hesgeth doesnt want to bomb iran.

particularly this part
Sec. 4. Using National Security Assets for Law and Order. (a) Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security and the heads of agencies as appropriate, shall increase the provision of excess military and national security assets in local jurisdictions to assist State and local law enforcement.
(b) Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Attorney General, shall determine how military and national security assets, training, non-lethal capabilities, and personnel can most effectively be utilized to prevent crime.
are we there yet? can we call it fascism or do we need soldiers in hugo boss outfits with swastika armbands marching in the streets first?

so blatantly unconstitutional, goes against posse comitus, whats next, we have to host soldiers in our homes? why not rip up the whole constitution and start over at this rate.

wheres the 2A people at? heres your tyranny!

cant wait for the martial law thats gonna be enacted once people start acting up when shelves are empty from the tariffs. this is a set up to that. but oh no asher is hysterical!!!!!!! its not really fascism its just sparkling authoritarianism! fascism only exists in 1930s germany and italy!

In six months he'll seem a lot smaller and more vulnerable. In two years he might be dealing with impeachment inquiries again.
I stand by this, and it seems to me that his decline has already begun. His poll numbers are cratering and he's losing biggest in the single most important metric in U.S. politics - the economy. His own party is openly talking about taking away his power to impose tariffs. SCOTUS is no longer falling in line and is questioning his actions. Musk has been chased out of Washington and his company's sales are cratering. You think the military is going to support Trump staying in office one minute after his term is up? I say there's a better chance that he's removed by his own party.

What you're seeing now are the last gasps of a lame duck trying to hold on to his agenda before he gets put in a political straight jacket. It might look worse before it gets better, but his days are numbered.

you have a lot more faith than i do that democratic norms will remain. hes openly defying the supreme court and no one is stopping him. IMO the only thing that might actually work in terms of removing him from power is the tariffs backfiring miserably. but he has armed goons throughout government and the military who are cultist supporters. i just dont have faith that our system of checks and balances will check this megalomaniac. and state governments are just gonna fall in line the second their federal funding gets threatened. its over. america is over. its just very few people can see it yet and most are in denial, which is an understandable response that is self protective.

and musk wont be ruined until teslas house of cards finance situation comes crashing down. i think him "stepping" back is all for show, and far more competent people with the same agenda who are much quieter are running things. for example, russell vought of the heritage foundation and also a key architect of project 2025. and musk now has everyones sensitive personal data that he stole with his DOGE goons to feed his xAI company. hes fine, he got what he paid for when he bought the presidency. dont be fooled by musk.

Yes. 1362 days. I'd put the chances of him being removed from office for incompetence at less than 1%.

A President has never been removed for incompetence and qith today's tribe minded mentality, it's unlikely to start now.

WTF are you talking about?

I would have said the same thing. Biden would not have been removed for incompetence either.

I'll take it a step further, in 2025 a President won't be removed even for a crime. Either party.

Now go back to fellating your orange Jesus doll.

I never said he would be removed for incompetence or at all for that matter. I just said it was more likely that his own party removes him than that the military supports him in imposing a dictatorship. I think the former is unlikely and the latter has a snowball's chance in hell.

And my take on this issue has nothing to do with faith in the system. It has to do with my belief that Trump is so utterly incompetent that he couldn't subvert democracy if he tried.
