Well, now that I've finally climbed Mt. Mansfield in the summertime, I realize how serious a mistake it would have been to attempt it by myself (or with inexperienced friends) in the winter time. The climb from the gondola to treeline via the cliff trail is class 4...

There may be a way from the nose (tollroad) to the chin (highpoint) and back that isn't so bad, and it would have been a cool, tame BC experience, but it still would have been a pretty stupid thing to do by myself.
