BOLD Prediction
Here it is, you can hang me if im wrong: Killington opens, top-to-bottom on Saturday morning. They will recieve natural snow from late, late Wednesday night, through Friday evening - less than a foot in accumulation but well more than a dusting. 2 1/2 almost strait days of snowmaking w/ a bit of natural cover should be enough to drop the ropes on Saturday.

NWS shows temps barely making 40's over the next few days, and lows nearly down to 20. Snow in the forcast along with a mix. And, remember, they forcast for the VALLEY, not the mountain. Rutland will see R*** while The junction at 4 and 100 should see a mix. Move on up and Snow should prevail.

this guy may not be as crazy as he sounds. :)
i was about to post a similar thought. looks like temps may drop into the favorable range late overnight wednesday and stay there until saturday morning with a little nat thrown in to boot. they could definitely open if they were doing the truckin thing (which they're not). so only question is whether that's enuf time to do top-to-bottom. another flea in the ole ointment is that it's due to warmup again and whether it'll make sense to their bean counters to open for a few days again. in any case, we'll be in standby mode.

Works for me. My suspicion is that you'll have to wait to Sunday, then they're open for the season. Next week looks great. Even Lil' Okemo will be open by the 16th.altabird wrote:Here it is, you can hang me if im wrong: Killington opens, top-to-bottom on Saturday morning. And to all you naysayers: For shame. How many forecasts have been proven wrong? And not just wrong, but really wrong? Why is it so bad to dare to dream --- especially when forecasts have proven to be unreliable?
thanks
Thanks guys, im not throwing in the towel yet, let Killington come out with another press release, then I will be satisfied, either way - pissed, but satisfied.

Conversation with a senior manager within the last hour - keep your fingers crossed. It could be close, but their forecaster says we could get a foot of snow if things break right. Elevation could be key once again. If that happens, and with snowmaking temps coming in behind it, even if only at night, we could make the weekend.
