I tried to post this on the insider blog:
K management, ask yourselves this question. Is the money you save closing early worth all this bad publicity?
It doesn't allow any more posts.

You know, you may be right. This has to be a financial decision, totally disconnected from marketing. Marketing here is pretty much locally managed, thus the messaging this past week about new snow and continuing to stay open until May 2nd. I don't Nyberg would've simply pulled the rug out from under Marketing, knowing what the reaction would be. More than likely, this decision came from Utah and the bean counter mentality that still appears to drive operating decisionsrogman wrote:I don't think this is Nyberg. Blame Cumming. As for PR disaster, Killington can't go anywhere on the internet right now without being trashed, whether its on Facebook, Alpinezone, Killingtonzone or even their own Killington Insider blog on their own website, and I doubt that will dissipate any time soon. I'd look for a new summer of discontent in cyberspace.

I stand corrected. It is posted now. There must be a delay or they might review the message before they post it.tt431 wrote:I tried to post this on the insider blog:

Re: Closing on the 25th of April...
to make matters worse the forecast is starting to look up. from the accuweather long range:
with the sunday may 2 being mostly sunny and a high of 54. certainly subject to change but talk about having egg on your face. they're certainly doing the right thing at j, closing during the week and then reopening for that final weekend.

Re: Closing on the 25th of April...
Now that the weather is looking up next week, the pile of BS is just getting larger.
Back in March when the rumors of the Spring Pass were floating around, I had been corresponding with someone at K asking them about the pass a day before it was publicly announced. I'm sure they were trying to sell me on purchasing the Spring Pass. They succeeded.... why? I was told that K would be closing on the advertised closing weekend, which at the time was the first weekend in May. However, it was also mentioned to me that they were pushing for at least the second weekend in May. There was no reason for me to believe differently because a similar situation happened last season and I truly felt that the powers-that-be were finally "getting it".
Do I feel duped? Yep!
I would think that because they sold Spring Passes this year, they would push to be opened as long as they could which would be a great plus for next season's Spring Pass. If they have a Spring Pass next season, let's just see how many will be sold.
