it's usually a sh*t show when they're here. also there's race week coming up. maybe this upcoming week. they usually use upper dipper, so that'll be closed for a week.

Re: Expansion
Not to mention they had all summer to get the Snowdon bubble RFID gate set up. Late yesterday, there were wiring it together and then left at the closing bell. Looked like they were replacing all of the "internal" wiring from a junction box on the right side to all of the separate gates. Not that there was any "major feed wire" going into the other side of the junction box. Not sure how long this is gonna be OOC.
Goes to show, you don't never know
Watch each card you play, and play it slow
Don't you let that deal go down
Don't you let that deal go down
Looks like its going down no matter what I do !!!

Re: Expansion
will have to ask t-bone on thursday about the canyon. think it's waiting on load testing. he told me over the summer that 6 lifts (in addition to 2 base lodges) were damaged because of the storms which probably caused delays in many projects. i'd cut less slack on the bubble rfid.Captain Hafski wrote: ↑Dec 2nd, '23, 09:23Not to mention they had all summer to get the Snowdon bubble RFID gate set up. Re: Expansion
Bubble RFID is an unforced error. They are obviously convinced it will solve enough problems that it is worth the early season aggravation. It may require a skill set that’s not in house. I’ll postpone judgement.

Re: Expansion
I do question the location of the gate.
The line/mob waiting at the scanner will extend across the trail to where caper dumps you out.
Thats always been a ‘stand around’ location, but now
Anyone trying to get past this and go to ramshead is F’ed
Re: Expansion
They moved the gate because they had constant issues with passes not scanning, which would cause most chairs to go up with empty seats. It's the same thing they did at Ramshead last year.

Re: Expansion
worked well at ramshead. the idea is right but maybe the location is wrong. we'll see how this works in practice because it's where people often congregate before entering the corral.

As one who uses the singles line a lot. I am not a fan of this location.

Agree . . . Bad location . . You used to be able to ski right in to the line. Now you have to go through the gate then cut hard left . .tough move when its crowded. Will be a cluster on busy days . .

And most chairs going up half full is better?

Re: Expansion
This is clearly a change they felt would be beneficial to the patrons. There’s no financial incentive. They are actually pretty good at these type of choices. Seriously, let it play out, then ream them because it sucks or be conspicuously silent because it worked. Win-win.

Re: Expansion
Why not fix the scanners so the passes do scan?

Re: Expansion
The passes embed a few coils of wire to capture RF energy to power them and give their response. They have very short range and the field has to pass through that coil. Heavy winter clothing and/or the orientation of the pass can affect performance. Then there is the processing time to do the pass lookup. No system of that complexity is foolproof.

Re: Expansion
and that's why they have the lifties there w the batons to scan through folks w problems. also you're relying on folks to be smart enough to put their pass in a place w maximum readability. think you're not supposed to put the pass in a wallet w credit cards. lots of variables.rogman wrote: ↑Dec 3rd, '23, 06:48The passes embed a few coils of wire to capture RF energy to power them and give their response. once they get this debugged, this should be an improvement in terms of cutting back on not fully loaded chairs.
