After all the back trouble, I'll still be able to get a lot of days, and will not be upset if I miss a day or two because of my choices.

You're correct. I rode the gondola and ended up in one with about 4 folks not wearing masks. Glad I was sitting by the door and the window open and I had my double masks on because I am immune compromised.

So if a store requires a mask put on a mask or dont go in, but if a resort requires a mask on a gondola don't worry about it because the people who are willing to follow the rules just shouldn't ride the gondola?

I'm not saying that's how it should be, but that is the reality. I'm not comfortable being on a gondola with unmasked strangers, so I'll avoid the gondola; I'm out here for the stoke, not to argue with others to wear their masks.
