OK, I read an article and the following word was used:

consanguinity

Without looking it up, who knows the meaning of this word.

Sentence:

His integrity was pure, his justice the most inflexible I have ever known, no motives of interest or consanguinity, of friendship or hatred, being able to bias his decision.

Bubba probably knows so I ask him to be quiet for a bit.

the temptation to look it up is strong. I'm guessing something to do with brotherhood as in fraternal organzations, or alliances, partisanship. Con= with, sangre= blood.

Without looking it up, I would have guessed it was an archaic word. Not used much today. I would guess a more current synonym would be "animosity."

I think it means something like "being related to". As in he's not going to have his decisions affected because he is related to one of the parties or has in interest in the case somehow. Means he's going to base his decisions strictly on the merits of the case and not be influenced by anything else.

In today's terms ... it sounds like it would mean something like the person isn't corrupt or isn't easily influenced by lobbyists.
