I believe that law enforcement should find better ways to subdue out of control folks. Cause' in my eyes that is outright abuse---maybe heavy nets or some form of tranquilizer. Did you see the story about the wheelchair bound woman that was tasered ten times and then dying. She had a knife and hammer...but still.

Yeah, it's not like she's going to get up and get you...at least try negociating or something before just tasering her...and if you're going to taser her, you don't need to do it 10 times. The taser itself is incredibly useful for police officers, however, they need much better training on when and how to use it.autograph guy wrote:Did you see the story about the wheelchair bound woman that was tasered ten times and then dying. Their the Police, they don't give a rats ass. Cops uphold the law only when it's convenient for them ... the rest of the time they does as they please.millerm277 wrote:Yeah, it's not like she's going to get up and get you...at least try negociating or something before just tasering her...and if you're going to taser her, you don't need to do it 10 times. They're a disgrace and it's a shame because there are plenty of good Cops and these POS's ruin it for them.

She was already in cuffs ..... I guess if I was a Cop and someone was giving me issues, I'd tase them enough to put cuffs on their hands and feet to restrain them.Nevada West wrote:Resisting arrest? Would you prefer they use a baton???
What I wouldn't do is cuff someone in the back of a car and just tase them over and over and over when it's obviously not the solution since it's not working.

Kicking the glass and going banana's in the back of the cruiser? I am sure this wasn't her first run in with cops. Again, what are the cops to do? The baton always worked real well in "calming" someone down.XtremeJibber2001 wrote:She was already in cuffs ..... I don't think he should have tasered her again after she was out of the car.
In a short time, the lunatics will be running the asylum. In some areas, they already are.

You're pretty good at talking out of both sides of your mouth. So which one is it?XtremeJibber2001 wrote: Their the Police, they don't give a rats ass. Cops uphold the law only when it's convenient for them ... the rest of the time they does as they please.

It's a "possibility" that the woman was tasered a few times too many. But in typically biased, hysterical media fashion - you see nothing of the woman's behavior before she was tasered.
Getting up and trying to run after being tasered, likely knowing that continuing to do so would only lead to more tasering is "usually" a pretty good indication that the woman was really cranked up on something.
Then trying to kick the crap out of the windows inside the police car? That's how people react when they're "out of control." I guarantee you that if "your mom" had been tasered, she wouldn't be trying to kick the windows out of a police car. She'd be doing whatever it took to NOT be tasered again.
Did the cop use a few too many tasers on her? Maybe. Maybe not. If you think you can tell anything from this video clip, then you're very misguided.
In the long run, the taser PREVENTS far more injuries to "victims," cops, and innocent bystanders (usually family members) than the very few injuries it might incidentally cause (i.e. from a fall). If you don't understand that, it's because you really don't want to.

Those are the only other alternatives? That sucks....ski the trees wrote:absolutely agree the media blows these things out of proportion completely. he does appear somewhat nonchalant in using the tasr over and over again, but it's a lot better than beating her senseless or using a firearm which are the other two alternatives...

Would she have been able to kick the glass had the officer handcuffed her feet and hands and then cuffed them together? I'm no Cop, but I see this happen all the time on "Cops" so I'd imagine it's typical practice when dealing with someone 'off their hinges'.Nevada West wrote:Kicking the glass and going banana's in the back of the cruiser? You're right, he should have, which to me indicates he was acting above the law and in interest for himself, not upholding the law.
I've seen Cops act above the law FAR TOO MANY TIMES and I don't put a damn thing on them. I've been witness to somethings and given my story, ID, etc and the Police report ends up being blank ... that's Cops above the law.
Talking out both sides of my mouth? I'm pretty sure I said something along the lines that it's a shame that these corrupt POS Cops ruin it for the good ones ... having a hard time reading? I'm pretty sure I've made it black and white.Carvemeister wrote:You're pretty good at talking out of both sides of your mouth. So which one is it? Rolling Eyes

She WAS tasered too much. What in the heck did she do in walking to the other officer's car that was deserving of a high-voltage shock? What Cop on this Earth lets some hysterical woman walk to the other car un-escorted? Seems like he was setting her up for some additional high-voltage shocks.
I agree the taser is a great tool for law enforcement; unfortunately, many of the officers use it a their discretion and not when the law warrants it. You know those Cops that tasered that student at UF? Those two officers are on the edge of losing their jobs, obviously so they didn't know when it's appropriate to use that amount of force. I'm also surprised that 6 people couldn't restrain some scrawny kid, the full-nelson works wonders ... it has for me.
As for my Mother, I have no idea who the heck you are and you don't know me from a hole in the wall, so you can leave my family out of your examples please.

All the way out where? L.I.? Yes, I am sorry to report that I do live here, for now.
K-Mart is exactly 5 1/2 hrs. from my doorstep on most days. However, I try to spend those 5 1/2 hrs. on a plane to SLC or elsewhere instead whenever I can find some nice dirtbag airfare.
But I do still see the K ~10 days a year.
