The rumor mill

Post by Loose Lips Sink Ships »

It appears that Mr Cummings has been in town twice recently. Wonder if it's to find out how all the information is getting out, as an example the exchange between Nyberg and Norm Holcomb.

Useless gesture, the people who work at Killington have loyalty to the town not the new perceived Lord and Masters Powdr/Sp Land. Trying to stop information getting out is futile, if more than one person knows it's not a secret.

You kid's better be quite, don't make me come down there again.

Listen buddy, you obviously work for Killington and obviously have an interest in keeping information quit. Well, don't get mad if you can't even control your employees from leaking back room conversation information. Obviously people in this forum are very interested in the inner workings of the mountain. So why don't you try to get your own house in order instead of posting your annoyance in an open forum where the topics are discussed.

P.S. You may want to consider that the reason information is getting out is because whomever is leaking the information knows that this is an anonomous forum and they feel more of an allegence to the people who have been patronizing this mountain for many years then to a new owner who is considering actions that are not in the skiiers/snowboarders/town people's best interest.

Two friends who work at the Grand say that Cummings showed up with his entourage for each visit.
Apparently it was to prevent an open revolt from local POWDR management who advocated making a deal.

Speaking to Mr. Big's personality: they ate like kings in the restaurant, but didn't tip their servers.
Not a penny.

Is it any wonder El Cheapo won't work cooperatively with the town (or Park City, UT, or Bend, OR) when he won't even acknowledge his own employees who work for tips?

Gee Lord Vader, no wonder your table conversations have become public knowledge.
Disgruntled waiters, bartenders, barbers, maids...
They hear all even if you don't see 'em 'cause they're not as important as you.

Get ready for a 20% increase in pass prices and reduced operations. We just may open only for the minimum time required under our lease, but of course we'll deny this rumor, until we have your money. Very similar to holding back on the prices of the kid's program until the early bird pass was done, or stating we're not closing base areas, the Skyship or Pico midweek, and beating it on a technicality of not closing for the full 5 midweek days but closing enough to put a damper on the Ski/Ski out properties we don't own and by opening late and closing early putting another nail in the coffin know as the access road or the Blight of Killington.

You got some of our money by passing the local option tax but we have very deep pockets. How many paychecks can you locals loose before you start to get behind in your bills.

First off, i may have misspelled a word or two, but come at me with run-on sentences and barely coherrent babbel and I find your suggestion laughable.

Next, do all that stuff and the whole mountain will eventually go under (along with your massive investment). Maybe not today or tomorrow, but eventually it will. People will not continue to come to Killington if they feel they are being taken advantage of year after year. I gave the mountain a chance this year despite all the hate speech on this forum pre-season because I have strong ties to the mountain and would hate to leave it. Well if the mountain (and I mean management, not you who probably cleans the urinals 3 times a day) disrespect the town and patrons all for the sake of money, then there will be another set of owners soon enough that won't. The mountain will always be there despite who owns it..... This is because the story of Killington is really the story of Vermont. A history lesson of how the town/state came together to form the Killington Ski Resort would do wonders to remind you who is really responsible for the resort even existing in the first place...... In case you couldn't figure it out, IT'S DUE TO THE HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION OF SKIIERS AND OUTDOORSMEN (not Powdr and SP Land).
