The latest Drift
So I just read with disgust the latest Drift about sunshine daydream blah blah... closing APRIL 20th (not news to me, but still disgusting), and decided to see what would happen if I emailed them back asking them to stay open later.
This is the response I got:
We appreciate your passion, please understand our needs and concerns. While there are those (like yourself) who are mad for snow, this is the time that the lift lines often consist of the liftie and you. The overhead does not change. When we crank the lifts we have to have a full compliment of staff. It doesn't matter if it's one person or 100 in line.
In addition to the season's end we have to close to begin a large number of capital repairs and improvement projects in preparation for next year while, at the same time, preparing for spring and summer programs.
Sorry, but the 20th is the last day for the mountain. After that it will be time to wax your skis and boards and put them away. Once you've done that it's time to check the air in the tires of your mountain bike (and get one of those padded gel seats). Then you can break out those hiking shoes and change the odor eaters. Spring is here. John
Anyone else get this?
I suggest we all respond to this latest drift just to undermine "John's" argument we are alone in our desire to ski.

Re: The latest Drift
even though you've skied into may for the last 30 years we've decided you should put away skis and forget about skiing. the mighty powerful oz has spoken ... what a bunch of tools! and check the air in your mtn bikes. when does the mtn biking season start ... end of june - early july. that's another kick in the teeth. used to start memorial weekend. boy do i hate these bastids ...gpetrics wrote:So I just read with disgust the latest Drift about sunshine daydream blah blah... closing APRIL 20th (not news to me, but still disgusting), and decided to see what would happen if I emailed them back asking them to stay open later.

You know, earlier in the year, K was overwhelmed with the amount of people willing to hike for turns. So overwhelmed they had signs made and posted guards at the doors. Spring will bring even more hikers, and once again probably overwhelming operations.
Seems like the logical solution would be to take their money and spin a chair...

Has there been any word on if they will allow hiking after the lifts close?Stormchaser wrote:You know, earlier in the year, K was overwhelmed with the amount of people willing to hike for turns.
