why snowbird sucks!
So we went to snowbird today after a good day there yesterday. The conditions were probably the worst I've ever snowboarded in, and the skiers I went with said the same. Of course the website said packed powder and machine groomed, which was the same as they claimed yesterday, which it was.
Now I know they have a no refund policy and we didn't want a refund. but after one terrible run down, we went in to see if we could at least get a voucher for a later date as it was just too hard to have fun ( we weren't the only ones). Their response was, the best we can do is give you a $10 voucher for tomorrow. Which would have been better than nothing (barely). The only thing is we're flying home tomorrow at 9AM.
Now if I'm a businessman (person), to me the right thing to do is give us vouchers for our next visit. This ensures we come out at least once and buy their $10 burgers if not more. their scenario has made it improbable that I will ever go back. For the last three years I've gone to their resort with friends at least twice per season.
My friends have already said no more to snowbird and I'm leaning toward agreeing with them.

You're insane. I been here all winter and this place is truly amazing. 550+ inches this season, 25+ deep powder days, probably riding til July in mineral basin while mountain biking on the front face. What more can you ask for. Coming from East Coast conditions, how can you have any complaints. So the weather this week has been in the upper 60's with bluebird skies, the mountain conditions were wet powder, after a dump last week, wet packed powder and slush. Last night the cold front passed and everything froze up. Today was cloudy and very windy and cold. What do you expect? Boiler plate everywhere! Isnt this normal in K town? How do you expect them to groom all of snowbird. Be happy this mountain is open while all the others are closed. It's late April in Utah, what do you expect? Warm days / cold nights. Every morning this time of year the conditions are hard packed, in the afternoon everything gets really loose and slushy, then everything refreezes again. They don't have a snow guarantee like killington does. So they should give everyone a voucher to use another day after a cold night? Besides, the lift ticket was discounted anyway and you got in a run. You would be making money if they gave you a voucher for next year. That doesn't make much business sense. You should of known this before you went there. If you read the ski report, you would of known this days ago. http://www.utahskiweather.com/discussions.php It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that when it gets very cold out,( like last night ) everything going refreeze. I just can't understand how anyone could complain at Snowbird this time of year.

Maybe you should learn how to ski before tackling the big hills! Snowbird is for big boys and girls, not whiners!pcgrantham wrote:So we went to snowbird today after a good day there yesterday. Ski! Don't Walk!

You're absolutely right, dude. The 'bird blows. You and your friends should tell everyone you know who skis to never go to the 'bird again.pcgrantham wrote:So we went to snowbird today after a good day there yesterday. Monomarks, I think you are refering to, are indeed a good way learn telemark. Not the end all be all, but a good way to get feel how to sync the movement of back foot at the right time in the turn. Most alpiners can learn quickly this way.b-5 wrote:lets get off my mtn sux more than yours does gay homo talk and get into it.Powdr wrote:OK - now I'm thoroughly convinced that EC skiers as the biggest whiners on the planet.

No.. I hope they drive everyone away so there's more room for us.johnny the jibber wrote:im having a hard time believing this...i think gsmashed is gone be pissed people are ragging on the bird...
We will have 70 and bluebird skies for our trip - it's Bay One tradition. The only thing wrong with Snowbird is the weak beer.
Don't Deer Valley Killington!

You can get Spaten Optimator at the bar on the top floor of the Cliff Lodge. That's 7.2% alcohol.G-smashed wrote:No.. The only thing I don't like about Snowbird are the Powder Nazis. They show up at every rope drop and do the Chinese downhill getting to first tracks. It's the only time I can ever remember trading elbow shots with somebody on a traverse. He shot first. I have a body mass advantage so I flattened him. I ski Killington. No 130 pound Utah wimp stands a chance.

So I'm assuming you were there skiing this yesterday(sunday)? If not then you have no idea what the condtions are like. If so and you said it was good then you are insane. I've been to snowbird 6 times in the last 3 years and yesterday was the first time it sucked. and remember I'm used to east coast conditions. Everyone at the mountain we talked to after we did a run said the same thing, it sucked and was a sheet of ice.nyc snowboarder wrote:You're insane. Don't worry, next time you go to snowbird I won't be there, their are plenty of other resorts in Utah I'll visit. It's all yours.Cityskier wrote:You're absolutely right, dude. The 'bird blows.
