crossover fences back up ...

Post by skiadikt »

ski patrol put the fences back up on the crossover during my last run down vertigo (which was spectacular btw) late this afternoon. apparently they closed it down because of lots of traffic in the needles area. thought there was some hope. bummed ...

Skiho and Hollywood both got caught by Ski Patrol this morning. There were so many of us skiing there that I guess the Ski Patrol decided the fences were the only ways to keep us off that terrain.

Such a shame! Needles and Skyeburst are some of my favorites. I don't understand what the big deal is. Just let us ski that terrain. I mean, are there not enough ski patrol on hand at this time of year to sweep that area at the end of each day? :bull

I am sure the nets are up for are own safety. I mean why else would they put them back up?

last year there were no nets up across the snowshed crossover....how come now..oh so we can't ski the expert trails that have good snow cover. At least take them down for the weekend.
They have volunteer ski patroll that work besides the paid patrol.

there were plenty of patrol. they were busting folks skiing that terrain. we nearly got caught both friday & saturday. it's really a shame since that area had the best snow on the mtn the last couple days. it's one thing to shut down lifts but it's another to shut down terrain that still has plenty of snow and is accessible by other open lifts. but like rogman says, the crossover is no longer on trail maps or signage so it couldn't possibly be open. stupid. what a waste ...

Lots of things that are not on maps, or with signs, are open and skiable . . .

If it's not a trail on the map, then isn't it technically woods, which are always open at skier's discretion?

I think this is just another exercise by Powdr Corp to drive away more customers. They are willing to spend the money on patrol to bust you, why not use these resources to please the customer and create a good vibe about the place.

Makes no sense to me to not open those trails. They extend the season so they might get press and attract more people then screw the regulars or anyone else that might show up. Open the cross over and up the trail and terrain count.
