I don’t much care, I just think it’s odd. Haven’t decided if I’m going out on Sat. Will wake up and see how it looks.skidogg wrote:you want it that bad just start skinin at dawn

Re: Lifts open at 9am this weekend?
i've been an 8am'er for nearly 30 yrs but 9 is fine for this weekend. it's gonna be -18 or so each morning. give them an xtra hr to get the lifts up and the sun to get a little higher. as for 8am, having the slopes to yourself for that 1st hr is worth the price of admission. they've been doing it for as long as i remember and a lot more more people are hip to it now. spyderman is usually 1st chair at bear.

Ya, I'm a "arrive before the lifts load" kind of guy myself, one of the reasons I loved/hated that the four-runner quad at Stowe opened at 7:30, and even worse/better was back when Mad River Glen used to run a "Milk Run"...if you were there when they started the lift, as long as there was a continuous flow of skiers in the line-up, you could ride up with the Ski Patrol and lifties (after the initial line, any break, you had to wait for the regular opening...which was a great way to motivate any slowpokes! Stratton is only running the "Club Carpet" lift today (all aerial lifts were closed early today), Mount Snow is down to 4 lifts.
Wake up and smell the coffee, a 9AM open would be an impressive effort.
Re: Lifts open at 9am this weekend?
They could easily have one lift open at 8 am. I would be fine with that.

I am now senior enough to understand that if one of those lifts stops at -20 for 30 minutes you may lose a toe - never mind if it stops for an hour.
It's the box or nothing - understanding the evac on the box would not be good.

Re: Lifts open at 9am this weekend?
certainly a challenging day out there but good job considering the conditions. snowdon lifts ran at 9:30 and the k1 at 10. spq also running. here's the reports from the competition:jskivt wrote:f.a.s.t. wrote:NOTE: Lifts will operate 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6 and Sunday Jan. 7, due to cold temperatures.

Stowe: 12:45pm-- The OverEasy Transfer Gondola is now on Wind Hold and shuttles are providing transportation between Mt Mansfield & Spruce Peak base areas. The FourRunner Quad, Mansfield Gondola & Sunny Spruce Quad remain on Wind Hold.
Sugarbush: Wind will affect lift operations throughout the day. Super Bravo and Valley House are on windhold. Heaven's Gate and North Lynx are closed for the day. Mount Ellen lifts are operating.
For your safety on Saturday, we will plan to operate only the lower mountain lifts, accessing only lower mountain terrain. Upper lifts and trails will be closed due to dangerous windchill factors and will plan to reopen on Sunday when temperatures begin to climb.
Jay Peak: At this time, we do not plan to run any of our Upper Mountain lifts, and the Village Double is currently on hold. The Taxi Quad, Metro Quad, and both Moving Carpets are planned to spin until 4:00 PM
Okemo: The Sunburst Six is on wind hold.
so quit your whining ...
