the hits keep comin' ... just a bluebird beauty out there where the skiing exceeded expectations. the 3" folded nicely into the groomers and combined w the moderate temps to provide a very good skiing surface. co-rotd were rime which had some of the driest gun pow of the season and highline, a bit damper but still good. leading the charge for the nats was mid downdraft, dreamhw and thimble. old supe also holding up. escapade was picked pretty clean. on my way to vagabond, the frolic s turn is in terrible shape. found a couple beginners shipwrecked there. good news is weekend now looks great ...

Guns were turned off on Highline a bit after 2 PM. Upper guns had been running a bit wet, but the wide lower section was still skiing nice. Not as good as Wednesday, but still worth multiple laps.

They are starting to set up OL for snowmaking. They were dropping coiled hoses off the Bear Quad rather than hauling them up. Never saw them do that before.

Beautiful day out there. I skied all over from Bear to Rte 4 to Snowdon. ROTD was easily Highline in the early afternoon; had to pay attention to the guns: too close and it was too wet; but the strong breeze was pushing the snow from skiers left all the way to far right, and far right was excellent. Lapped it multiple times. Superstar was notable, in spite of some ice at the top, skied well its entire length. We tried Old Supe, but found it to be skied off ice bumps, passed on a left turn to Middle O, and hung a right to reliable Supe. On the other hand, an open Upper Needles was surprisingly awesome. In the Canyon, Cascade was a groomers delight, but spent little time there.

Great .. pictures of snow guns.

Steins, Sigis, Organgrinder and Middle Earth were very nice today. Adequate natural in the troughs.

Great day for me also at Cannon, my first day there with the tram running this season...nice to be spoiled with the easy access to the summit instead of a couple chairlifts. Quiet skiing on groomers, no scraping today and there were drifts to 7 inches, so even some steep lines could be skied a few times but it was obvious what not to go back to repeat.

You would have laughed at me yesterday then (and I couldn't get anyone to follow me), to access a couple lines in the woods that I knew would be good because of wind direction, I also had to take off my skis and hike, and the rocks that I had to climb over were much more dangerous looking and "not ski boot friendly" than the hike to Middle Earth! As Atomic says, 3" never felt so good and I wasn't wrong to go where I went most of the time (just one idea/section was completely wrong), it was where the deepest snow was.

Afternoon Report: Had a great time out there. Can't really give a "full" report as I never left Snowdon / North Ridge areas.

ROTD: Highline, Highline, Highline. As noted, guns were a bit wet on upper section but still good. Then they shut the guns off and it was fantastic coast to coast all the way down. Only downside was last run of the day the wetter spots were setting up a bit.

Upper Double Dipper bump line, Powerline, and Ridge run all skiing pretty good; I think the winds pushed around the loose snow a bit to skiers left on these trails making them better than the day before.

Vagabond and North Star also served up some fine "Eastern Skiing". Need an edge.

We skied from Tuesday to Friday and the Killington snowmaking and operations team did it again. Totally transformed the mountain from brown and spotty to full coverage and well groomed. Thursday night they seemed to groom damn near every trail on the mountain. We skied everywhere and it was amazing all over. Easily the best day of the week. You can always rely on Killington to make conditions as good as humanly possible.
