wow surprise "powday"! alright felt more like the sierras but will take it. r*ining on way to mtn for the open and considered turning around. all snow on the hill. certainly of the heavy, wet variety but rather heroic in nature. excellent for base building. by the end of the morning session "seemed" like 3 or 4" fell. with the light turnout, got trax on a number of trails. the upper snowdon runs were faves.

oh yeah and to rogman's post yesterday, on the north ridge quad, the seats were not cleaned at all.

Mother Nature's schizophrenic behavior kept me on the sidelines until 10AM, when she finally made up her mind and chose "snow". Flakes were the size of small birds, but dainty to the touch. A few of them would have made a meal. Started off on the 6, the usual pair of runs had a nice edgeable snow, that had the added advantage of giving the snow enough texture I could actually see. The ropes on upper Royal Flush and Full House had been dropped, and they skied great on the natural: no bottoming out, and while I was nowhere near first tracks, it was still worth multiple do-overs. From the peak (temp 31), the top of Cascade skied well, and whatever previous problems it had were buried. An early inspection from GN, led me to believe that the North Ridge seating was still not to my liking, I deferred until a later run down from the K1. Let others have the wet butt. Was hoping to see the rope dropped again on Powerline or Upper Ridge Run, but it was not to be, and way too many people standing around to even consider a duck. Overall probably the best day of skiing of the year.

We decided to do the late shift after the snow ended . . . well, we got there and the fog arrived. Although the snow was good, it was heavy, and caused some funky issues with skis fishtailing on the flats - thought it was user error but spoke with others that experienced the same issue :| Had our Day 1 in KBL bar - good to see Shannah and Glenn

Still foggy as he (double hockey sticks) out  Snow forecasted to begin at 1:00 am through tomorrow 8)

Quiet little ole Northeaster r*ined down some biggest snowflakes of the early season. Summit temperature of 30 degrees with the snow piling higher all morning. Film crew for Halley O'Brien was shooting some footage. Without the race clubs the mountain would have been totally empty for the first powder day of the season. Thick moisture laden blanket of workingman's powder gave the legs muscles some real exercise. Laps off Snowdon had a Full House beating out a Royal Flush. Earned a shoutout from the lift for ripping run on Rime.

Grade B+

Quote of the Day - Somedays the powder runs last for hours.

Started off the Bubble and did all runs including the naturals twice. Got fresh tracks on some of them. Snow was heavy but good base building. Took a ride on the K1 and skied the Cascade headwall which had some deep snow (more than the 2 inches posted by Killington). The North Ridge runs had some nice powder to ski too. I was through skiing when the sun came out because I had to head back to the flatlands. I hope MrsG is correct about more snow coming and that those who are up there enjoy it thoroughly.

"Flakes were the size of small birds, but dainty to the touch. A few of them would have made a meal." I can completely relate to this sentiment. 4" of heavy & wet with the 100mm underfoot and a light touch can certainly deliver that mini pow day feeling.
