Terrain Expansion Thread: 2020-2021
As has been done in past years, I think it makes sense to have a thread for all stuff related to terrain build out. Especially since things will be different this year.
The Canyon Quad is being added to the schedule tomorrow, in addition to the 4 lifts already open. East Fall is of course opening with it. There could be some more sustained cold temps starting sometime next week, so I would think more aggressive expansion would begin then. Superstar and Ramshead are the next most logical additions. Which one is anybody's guess. I would think it depends on what the limiting factor is for capacity. If it is lift capacity, then Superstar would be better. If it's lodge capacity and parking, then Ramshead.

If they need lodge capacity, opening skyeship early wouldn't be a bad option once they get the rest of skye opened up.

Re: Terrain Expansion Thread: 2020-2021
You're not going to see all of Skye (or other pod) opened before they expand this year. It's going to be core routes to a base/lift first and fill in later if there is justification.
Skyeship Stage 1 is a must to catch people from the East and leverage underutilized lodge and parking capacity.

There were guns and hoses set up on upper double dipper. That will probably be the next trail open.
I noticed lots of beginners out there today, they should probably expand to snowshed or ramshead next.

Before blowing snow All the way down to Skyeship base on Route 4, Needles, Cruise Control & Bear Mtn. ( with large parking lot ) make more sense with higher elevation.

I would think that Skyeship would be a low priority this season with the gondola capacity limitations. It affects gondolas more than it affects chairs. I think getting the Ramshead loop open should be absolute top priority for expansion. Gives some novice terrain, more parking, and an extra lodge.

Yes, the West Basin takes priority. My comment was simply saying things are not going to be filled in completely before they move over there to take advantage of the Bear and Skyeship lots/lodges. At least that's what my contacts tell me, subject to change of course.

Word on the street is that they will be blowing more snow and opening more terrain this season...

Weather forecast doesn't look like there will be many long stretches of snowmaking temps this upcoming week. Hopefully they don't go back words on open terrain.

Re: Terrain Expansion Thread: 2020-2021
it looks like snowmaking temps return tuesday night and should run at least through the end of the week. pretty sure they'll be in full-on recovery mode as there's nothing worse for the snowpack than this warm, damp, foggy weather. terrain expansion is a long way off.

Did they blow enough snow to allow people parked in Vale lot to ski back to their cars? That would be great so they can avoid getting on a bus.newpylong1 wrote: ↑Dec 4th, '20, 21:27 Launchpad down into Skye Lark lit up to get SS chair moving and Caper down to (Lowest) GN to get Rams Head online.
