Bingo, spoken like a true lawyer

Sometimes it is that simple.

Dr. NO wrote:OK, I read an article and the following word was used:

consanguinity

Without looking it up, who knows the meaning of this word.

Sentence:

His integrity was pure, his justice the most inflexible I have ever known, no motives of interest or consanguinity, of friendship or hatred, being able to bias his decision.

Bubba probably knows so I ask him to be quiet for a bit.
Without looking at any responses, my guess is that it would would have something to do with blood. This is based on my knowledge of Italian.

Actually, I did not look at the context in which it was used. I just looked at the one word. In Italian: con -> with sangue -> blood

Geneticists talk about "degree of consanguinity" - how closely are two people related?
Like you can marry your 2nd cousin, but not your sister (unlike some people you see in Rutland's Walmart) because there's more consanguinity with your sister.

The "table of consanguinity" was a chart we had in trust & estates to determine the closeness of kin.

What do you call your first cousin's kid? First cousin once removed. Knowledge like that really made my $90g's worth it.
