Yes, but when you're tased for about for 2 1/2 minutes straight, it's no longer "harmless."

So you're saying what? It's also the cop's fault that she kicked the windows because she wasn't hog-tied? That's actually prohibited by many departments for a number of reasons.

In interest for himself? How do you conclude that? What does he get, a day off for tasering innocent women? Not upholding what law specifically? Are you familiar with the laws of that jurisdiction, or just jumping on the "Don't tase me, Bro" bandwagon of hysteria?

Actually, you did write something like that. But that's not what you "said."

You might have a point there. However, a little too judgemental, a little too quickly based on very little info, IMHO. You may turn out to be correct on that. We'll have to wait and see.
XtremeJibber2001 wrote: Unfortunately, many of the officers use it a their discretion and not when the law warrants it.
And you know this based on what facts? Are you familiar with use of force guidelines (and laws) in all 50 states? Or is this your opinion based solely on youtube, blogs, and "unbiased" CNN reports?
XtremeJibber2001 wrote: You know those Cops that tasered that student at UF? Those two officers are on the edge of losing their jobs, obviously so they didn't know when it's appropriate to use that amount of force.
Sure, they must be guilty. I'm sure there was absolutely no university politics involved in that decision. Right! I won't even get into this one right now.

Uh, relax. Notice the quotes around "your mom." In other words, it was meant as a generic term to be filled in visually to help only those who may need such extra help. I am happy that you are not such a candidate. Excellent! See you at race camp. I'll buy you a cold one, eh?

Affirmative.
All the way out where? L.I.? Yes, I am sorry to report that I do live here, for now.
K-Mart is exactly 5 1/2 hrs. from my doorstep on most days. However, I try to spend those 5 1/2 hrs. on a plane to SLC or elsewhere instead whenever I can find some nice dirtbag airfare.
But I do still see the K ~10 days a year.
5.5 hours from shoreham? holy $hit u drive fast? i live in huntington & it takes me 5.5 hours but i drive very slow....suffolk county police?
I do what I want, when I want, where I want, & how I want & if you don't like it you can go $uck yourself :-)

I'm not sure there is a definiton of "tasering the crap out of someone," except for whatever it means to you.

Usually one or two little reminders are sufficient for resisters who aren't cranked up on crack and/or a little crystal meth.

But if they are cranked up on drugs and their brain temperature is high enough to melt a bar of Vermont cheddar, and they're violent, then whatever it takes in order to get them to submit to being restrained in such a way that no innocent folks (including law enforcement) are in danger of any physical harm (no matter how slight).

Lemme guess. You never had to roll around with one of these people, alone, outside a bar filled with drunks at 2:00 a.m. (of yeah, and maybe you're a Vt. State trooper and your nearest backup is 20+ miles away).
So many folks are always willing to pitch in and help a cop when that happens. No, I can't imagine using the taser more times than would look appropriate for relentless viewing on youtube.

Precisely. I doubt you or I know what's prohibited in this particular precinct, but in my job I mitigate risks ... something the Cop choose not to do in this case ... instead, decided to repeatedly tase the suspect, a procedure that was clearly ineffective.

Maybe loses his job, tough luck for him. What was the purpose of tasing this woman repeatedly, especially when she's walking causally to the other officer's car un-escorted (police policy, right?). Don't tase me , bro bandwagon? Those Cops will lose their jobs by the end of October. Some hysteria, egh?

It is ... I won't bore you with the details, but lets just say the conflict I had with an officer resulted with him being discharged from the force. Clearly, this officer acted above the law and was punished for doing so ... the way it should be.

Oh, I do have a point. This guy will be out of a job too, just give it a few weeks. The public has no sympathy for power hungry Cops.

We will see, but based on what I saw, she was just walking. If the officer exercised good judgment, an escort to the other car was clearly warranted. Heck, if I got shocked that much, I might just try to get away from that officer, seeing how he overstepped his bounds and was acting independent of the law and the people he swore to protect.

This is based on what I see in public. Sometimes it's power hungry cops on youtube, sometimes it might be CNN, sometimes in Philly, and sometimes in crowded areas where unarmed people are threatened with guns by Police .... pointing it at bystanders and anyone and everyone around them ....

Nope, don't bother. They'll lose their job and that's that. If you're right, they'll keep their jobs ... unlikely from what I've read. Good, a few less power hungry cops on "the beat".

Try to use "your mom" next time then, if that's OK? I don't need any extra help, it's clear from my experiences, many of my friends experiences, and examples shown on the news almost daily (see Philly 80+ shots fired at one unarmed man) that Cops clearly need more training and the hiring process definitely needs work.

Let me be clear ... this disgust is in no way directed at you. Unfortunately, my experience with Police has been soured and other good Cops (perhaps such as yourself) suffer because of this because I don't trust them. I am by no means a "bad seed", it just so happens I'm often in the wrong place at the right time. I know quite a few great cops and I share my disgust with them ... they identify with it and acknowledge every precinct has a few bad guys, but unfortunately it ruins other (good) cops reputations (like the time I watched a PPD officer curse at a city prosecutor).

A cold one? I'm game! I'm sure your a great guy and a fine Officer. Clearly, I'm very biased based on my experiences ... most recent being a friend of mine was robbed in Philly and a PPD detective said he could only make his statement between 12am-5am ... shitty, right?

I have no faith in officers until I get to know them and that's the unfortunate result of bad Cops I've dealt with.

*I use Cops because it's easier to type, not because I want to belittle you, FYI :D

IMHO ... they're all required to have it done unto themselves prior to being allowed to use it on others, at least at the state level.

right, but in a controlled enviroment. ive seen people getting tasered before and one shock seems to do the trick, not 5 or 8 or 10...but what do i know...

I see what you're saying ... a taser should be reserved as a last result, not be used as a tranquilizer as this Cop 'appeared' to have done ... he was using it almost like one of those dog shock collars to make the woman shut-up.
