The Pitcher Inn looks nice, but all the famous people go out to Aspen and Utah. I have never once seen a celebrity in Vermont.

Hi all,

After 12 years of season passes for me, 10 for XXXXXX,
11 of 12 and 13 of 16 years in ski houses all at
Killington/Pico we defected to Sugarbush. Moved into
a small condo, picked up the season pass and got out
skiing yesterday.

Should be interesting to see how things are at
Sugarbush now that the new owner has had some time to
fix things up a bit. Actually met the new owner in
one of the mid-mountain lodges yesterday. Try that at
killington.

So you'll all have to come up and visit so we have
people to ski with! The number for the condo is 802
XXX-XXXX.

Pitcher Inn gets the celebrities. People that work there sign a form saying they will not disclose who is staying there. They can talk once they leave. Mick Jagger has stayed there. And I saw Matt Lauer at Snowshed last season.

I'm gonna have to stay at The Pitcher Inn then. Maybe I'll meet someone like Mick Jagger and ski with them.

You DocN0Beyotch. Why you soooooooooooo grumpy? You just need to complain don't you? Skiing's been awesome. Less people, great snow, more room - what's the problem? And hey, 6 figs ain't all that in this day and age. It's par for the course if you ask me. Town of Killington Ain't going to block nothing. You just want to blow smoke up somebody's ass

One problem is that we have friends with small children who loved skiing Killington but can no longer do so because they cannot afford to put their children in the ski programs at Killington.

You're kidding right? Skiing has been expensive for decades. Putting kids into ski programs and ski races has been doubly expensive! How can you fault a company for trying to trun around a failing ski area and make a profit? Either make the sacrifices to make it work for your family or go to a smaller, cheaper closer mountain to where you live. Don't waste whatever ridiculous amount of money on gas to get all the way up to K. Kids won't know the difference. All they care about is being cared for and loved for by their parents. It's a gift of Time. K is a brand and if they like the brand is a reflection of the parents influence. I have no sympathy. Or hey why not quit dumping the kids into the ski programs and actually ski with the kids. Teach them. That'll save some dough, no? sh*t you like K that much, then either make it work but for cripe's sakes all you whiners need to just shut up. No Crowds, what a beautiful concept. Isn't skiing nicer when you're not fearing for your life due to unruly hordes on the hill? Gimme a break.

Yes, but Killington now has one of the most expensive (actually, I think it might be the most expensive) lesson rates in the country.

Failing? It sure wasn't before they took it over...it's turned a profit for all but three years of it's existence (the first two, and 1995), and it's been a pretty large one, even in recent years.

Slowden quadraplegic, South fridge triple and a host of other lifts in disrepair. K was raped by ASC. Those profits did not go back into the hill. There are plenty of beautiful updated lodges at ski areas out west. K's lodge's are in desperate need of some help. They could use a host of new equipment and investment into infrastructure. And again. I'm all for crowd control.

As to the Kid lesson rates - this new company doesn't owe anybody anything. From my younger days on the race hill, the kids in the ski programs were usually dumped there by parents who needed babysitters. Guess the price went up. Fewer kids, probably means better quality instruction for those that are left. Hey those are the breaks.

Spoken by someone who probably has no kids to put through the programs so they become excellent skiers. Most kids, mine included, listen to their coaches much better than they listen to the parents. They also don't whine when they are with their coaches. Yes, there is some babysitting involved especially with the younger ones but that's mainly due to the fact that little kids do not have the stamina to stay out on the hill for more than a few hours.
