Re: Conversation with Killington rep at Albany Ski Expo

I had it confirmed for me yesterday via PM that KZone is blocked except for a select few. The funny thing is, people read it at home and post from home and say things from home that they'd never say from work were they allowed to read and post there. Managements can be so stupid sometimes in how th...

Re: Conversation with Killington rep at Albany Ski Expo

killingtonzone is a direct descendant of the killington chat, which was run by killington. ASC decided to get rid of it so we picked up the ball and ran with it. To be fair, the Killington chat was not killed by ASC - it was killed by Killington. The old chat ran beautifully. It was as self-regulat...

Re: Killington's New Economic Development Director

I've known Carl for years. He's smart, knows his stuff and has tremendous integrity. Good call by the town to hire him.

Re: Goombay Smash - Recipe

I don't know if the Goombay Smash pre-dates my arrival in Killington during the winter of '80-81, but certainly one of the popularizers of the GS was the Orient Express, built by Jeff Gherish and his partners at the time (who also jointly owned the Back Behind). The Orient Express was a (rather lous...

POWDR will do whatever POWDR deigns to do, Highwaystar notwithstanding. If POWDR were to create a small rubber room with a dozen keyboards and monitors, all fired up but with no actual Internet connection, and put Highwaystar into said room, and neglect to put a knob on his side of the door, that'd ...

Skyelark. Bittersweet was added in the '80s.

Was there a trail off K peak to get there? I don't rmember any of us getting over in that direction during the trip.
Not unless you consider Great Eastern a trail.

Follow your bliss, but it's really, really easy to get misdirected on that attempt and get lost down into Parker's Gore... even easier than to miss your way back to West Glade after a little expedition out to Coopers. And it's a much longer and nastier (and more expensive) rescue should that occur. ...

This one is cool. It's shot before they cut the trees on Downdraft. I'm not sure I remember the K Chair being yellow.
'Twas, in its original incarnation. That lift was removed in favor of the (then) more modern Killington double and relocated to Needle's Eye.

You want low? When I was a sled dog at the K I brought a toboggan to the Killington base lodge first aid room late in the day. Brought the patient inside. By the time I returned to the sled, some $#i+head had stolen my poles right out of the toboggan. That's low. I'm still pissed off about it 20 yea...

No just decline to give up your pass. They may escort you off the mountain and make sure you dont jump on another lift, but that'd be it. Or just sit there, see how long they wait for you... Sheesh... way to make sled dogs your friends. I don't have a horse in this race, but this policy isn't far r...

Rather than repeat myself (albeit on a different board)....

This topic came up on the sunday river board recently. Downhill Slide shouldn't be taken with a grain of salt - you should take it with the whole damn salt lick.
